We enjoyed yet another brilliant break with Lionel and Alison at Crakehall Watermill. The little 'uns were especially excited to meet the neighbouring sheep. Really comfortable cottage in a location that makes the Dales and Moors easily accessible. Will, without doubt, return many more times.

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic review. So pleased you had a great half term break here. The sheep have missed the children's frequent trips to talk to them through the fence. Pleased that you were able to explore and enjoy the Dales and North York Moors during the week as well as the simple pleasures for the children...

We stayed in the self catering cottage, Miller's Retreat, mid October. We were a group of 3 couples, and none of us could find fault with this beautiful cottage. The location is idyllic, well situated for the Dales, with a local pub, and Bedale is only 2 miles away. The cottage is immaculate, clean with tasteful decor throughout. All 3...

My husband and I and our 2 best friends spent a most enjoyable week at this wonderful retreat. The house has been beautifully restored and the fixtures and fittings are of extremely good quality. We couldn't believe how beautiful Millers Retreat was. From the moment you walk in the door you just think "oh wow this is beautiful". Very well done with beautiful fittings. The 3 bedrooms are amazing in size all with lovely ensuite bathrooms (one bath, two showers). Beds extremely comfortable, didn't have a problem sleeping at all. There are hairdryers, shampoo,...

Cannot fault Millers Retreat Cottage at all. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners with a homemade cake! This was a brilliant personal touch. Such a warm welcome from them made the stay, before we even got into the cottage. Outside surroundings just beautiful. Highlight - walk through the field to the Egg Shack. No joke its a...

My partner booked The Watermill for my birthday surprise last weekend and we couldn't have asked for more. Beautifully appointed home with touching extras throughout the stay. Having stayed at the Watermill over the last weekend, we have now given up looking for anywhere else to stay when we visit friends in Crakehall and we know exactly where we will stay over the weekend. Beautiful tranquil surroundings. Short walk into beautiful village with friendly good value pub. Lionel and Alison offer a wonderfully warm ambience without over-intruding. Lots of super visits in the area - Jervaulx, Middleham, Bolton, many others. If you happen to be there on the first Sunday in the month the evocative historic watermill is open.
