This is probably my fifth visit to this Inn over the years and it has hardly changed in all that time. Its location, perched high up on the North York Moors between Hutton-le-Hole and Castleton, is quite unique. The weather can be bad up there but then its even nicer to disappear into the welcoming cosy depths of this sprawling...

The pub is on a moorlands road between Whitby and kirbymooreside . It has wonderful views and has a true old inn feel. There is a large car park and welcoming feel. The pub is really old world and has an open fire. We were seated and drinks ordered. The menu has most things but I chose a roast turkey...

My family have visited the Lion Inn countless times over the years (40+) and we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great & the staff are friendly and welcoming. We have had numerous family celebrations there including Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmas, Millennium Eve and many more. Here's to many more visits. The Thompson Family.

New Years Day seemed a good enough reason to have dinner at the Lion Inn. Clearly very busy as the table for 4 was booked for 6pm, not later. On arrival, the table was free in a nice corner location. The service was good. Only glitch was no more T-bones, so had to change the order. Starters plates were all...

And again and again and again. Never ever tire of this fabulous old place. Stuck in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors this is a brilliant place to go to any time of the year. Fantastic food, friendly staff, reasonable prices and beautiful scenery. Opens early for breakfast which is great if you're a walker. Always busy so booking...

One of the beauties of walking on the moors is you can find routes which give you an excuse to visit a cafe or pub. On the trail or at the finish. The Lion Inn stands in such a great location, overlooking the colourful and often windswept moorland. This is my second visit here and it's a lovely, welcoming pub....

Went along to The Lion Inn for lunch with family, home cooked food is superb, nice warm, relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Always get talking to fellow vistors as attracts a lot of walkers who ramble through the North Yorkshire Moors and stop for refreshment. Also dogs welcome which is nice, always look forward to stopping by this pub.
