This is a review of the steakhouse only. Great ribeye. Highly recommend for steaks. Did not try empanada but regret that. We would return but not for the chicken which was fine but not as exciting as the steak. We did not have a reservation, the place was full by the time we left.

We had dinner at El Colibri, restaurant at Cabinas El colibri. It is Argentinian steakhouse with seafood and other grilled meats. the food was exceptional and the wait staff extremely professional. Our hotel made a reservation for us--one is needed as this place is super popular. I had wonderful beef short ribs and my partner loved his grilled tuna with garlic. Portions are generous, yet we had to eat the whole meal as it was beyond delicious. I highly recommend.

I've been staying here for 13 years..Yep,when they first opened up..Usually a month at a time..It's a nice, clean safe place to stay..The owners Roxanna and Fernando are wonderful people that are more than willing to help and address any wants or needs you might have to make your stay pleasant. Sight seeing, fishing, beach, turtle hatching,etc...Fernando took us to a rodeo once..A very relaxing place to enjoy your vacation..You can't go wrong...The best bang for your buck in the area..The food is super too....Challenge Fernando to a game of backgammon...Rooms have A.C.,cable T.V.

Our stay at Cabinas El Colibrí for family vacation this past january was absolutely perfect! Rooms were perfectly clean, the cabin was equipped with the basic stuff for 4 people, the room was cleaned every day and we were provided with fresh towels everydy. The pool was vey well kept - as well as the entire property- and perfect for a refreshing dip after a long beach day. Very good quality and service at the restaurant, the argentinian grill is superb, we will definitely book another stay there very soon!

Lovely little place off the main street on South end of Playa Carrillo. Room had nice comfy beds, big shower, kitchenette with micro, hot plate and refrigerator. Great little pool beside restaurant/bar area. Best streaks in Guanacaste ever!!! Dinner was fantastic, we ate like kings & queens. Wonderful people there made us feel welcome. If around the Samara/Carrillo area, this is the place to stay and relax...

Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. There was a queen size bed and 2 single beds. There is an in-room small safe, TV with cable, a medium sized refrigerator, 4 glasses, facial soaps, and bath towels. (You will need to bring a hair dryer and your own shampoo.) You can get by without the hair dryer since your hair will dry quickly. The location is attractive because of short distance to Playa Carrillo. It is walk-able to the beach though there are no sidewalks nor much room on the road to walk. It is a quiet location even in the evenings when the restaurant is more than filled with people. We felt safe there, most importantly. The staff were friendly and nice. There are no beach views or sounds of waves from its location. For the price, it is a good value. You may find some small ants coming into the room, but they are harmless and they actually eat all of the the larger insects/ants/flies/spiders in your room by carrying it out for you. The dining room becomes a very busy restaurant at night and we recommend making reservations in advanced. It is quiet nice to fill up on wine and meat and to "stumble" back to your room only yards away! Wifi was available only near the pool/office/dining area, you can't get a signal from the room (at least not ours).

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very comfortable. The Cabinas are located on the hill overlooking Carillo beach, there are no accommodations at beach level, so about 10 mins walk down the hill. Plenty of space with terrace outside, nice pool. Good breakfast served in the adjacent Argentinian restaurant which has a very good reputation and is very popular.

The service is the best, the people are very nice and very helpful, Fernando and Roxana make you feel so comfortable and make a familiar atmosphere. If you want to taste the real Argentine flavor the Colibris restaurant is the right place for dinner. Great value, great place and definitely great people.

I stayed at this place for one night at a cabin with 4 other friends. The room was excellent, clean and nice. Great value!. The pool was excellent, we got the chance to be at the pool day and night and it was never crowded, I guess a lot of the guests prefer the beach, Carrillo Beach is quiet and calm, I wouldn't say is "walking distance" but you can definitely walk. (about half a mile). The service was great, we arrived earlier and were lucky to have the room ready, so we enjoyed the amenities, when we were leaving we asked Fernando (Owner) if we could use the pool after the check out and that wasn't a problem. I Would definitely go back. The breakfast was included on the price and it was good!! Is away from Samara Beach, this beach has a more of a nightlife so if you are looking to go out at night you must take this into consideration if you are not driving. Unfortunately didn't get to eat here, but according to the reviews it has a great restaurant.

Unfortunately, we have only sampled the restaurant at El Colibri and not the accomodations (yet). The restaurant attached to the cabinas is a local happening dining experience; it is an Argentinian grill and is excellent...everything is freshly made and simply delicious. We are interested in the cabinas as well and will be looking to stay in Playa Carillo (at, El Colibri Cabinas) next time we are in the Samara area.
