I stayed 2 nights at the hotel end August 2006. It is a recent small hotel with nice and helpful staff. Its main advantage is the direct access to a pleasant beach.

The hotel is located 15 km south of Zadar. There's no much activity around and access without car may be difficult. I therefore advise only people with cars to consider this hotel. There are few small towns around with much beach activity at night or Zadar itself.

Rooms are of average size, all having balcony with sea view. Some of them are situated in front of the sea, providing a better view and isolation from the road (which is quiet close). As the hotel is recent, it is in good shape. It's a pity that water pipes are not well isolated, so that you I could hear my neighbour's' bathroom noise. Curtains are not thick enough, which allows too much light to penetrate the room in the morning.

Breakfast is simple but of decent quality.

In summary, an above average hotel which may be considered especially if you're looking for easy access to the beach.

Chose this wee hotel because of its high rating. Not disappointed at all!
When they mean close to the Adriatic, they mean CLOSE!
The colours first thing in the morning through to last thing at night - blues and greens of all hues - fantastic.
The hotel is owned and run by the local family. Very laid back and so friendly. Nothing was any bother. Good menu and great service - from the continental breakfast through to the dinners in the evening. Their fish soup followed by grilled sea bass - followed by freshly-made cheesecake - delicious.
We stayed 7 nights and we would go back - tomorrow!
We did not hire a car - just a pre-arranged taxi from the airport (200Kn).
Local buses were very good - 15 mins to Zadar City, 10 mins to Biograd - and 3 hours to Split. Roadside is a bit busy (and scary) for walking on after dusk - so most will prefer to have a hire car here. Though for us it waas great.
Very relaxing.

We spent one night in this wonderful hotel and were impressed with the high level of service and fantastic waterfront location. The room was both cosy and clean (although the bathroom was quite small) and we had a room at the front of the hotel with a balcony overlooking the water. We ate in the hotel dining room which was of a good standard and reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Zadar area.

The views over the sea to the islands from our room and balcony, the enormous breakfasts, tasty evening meals, the beach and accomodation are so far above the price range.
And it gets better - our stay at the Mare Nostrum was our first with our baby son. The hoteliers and their staff made our holiday. They were so considerate both of ourselves and the others guests. We couldn't recommend it enough.

About 25 minutes bus from Zadar bus station. If arriving by bus make sure you ask driver to drop you at the bus stop just as you come into Sveti Peter. Then it’s about a 5 minute walk to hotel but there is a lack of footpath along the main road.
10 minutes from Zadar airport by taxi. Around 2000 Kn.

Hotel rooms are very clean with balcony. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is very good. Choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices, tea and coffee, bread rolls, toast, jams, boiled eggs and chocolate croissants.
Main meals are of a good standard and reasonably priced (even with the Pound Sterling as it is) working on a rate of £1 – Kn8

The Mare Nostrum is great if you want to get away from it all and relax.
Hotel is very well situated on the waters edge 5 metres from the decking area of the hotel.

The sea is great (but not for toddlers) and is pebbly but water still warm in September.

Great to have a drink and watch the sunset go down.

Apart from the hotel for meals there is a restaurant over the road (closed when we were there) and found a small pizzeria restaurant near the bus stop towards Zadar. The only other place I found was a very small local bar/cafe a 2 minute walk away. For nightlife the best bet would be either bus/taxi to Zadar or the closer resort of Biograd which is about 10 minutes by bus. There are a lot of bars and restaurants there.

One step to the beach, Sun beds provided, beach towels available, Views of the sea from most rooms. First class air conditioning available 24/7 ! The whole hotel shines with it's cleanliness.
Smiles all the way from the staff..This small hotel is a hidden gem! Car essential.
Food is very good but the menu is an adhoc verbal affair..Service is first class .
We enjoyed a heavenly week here . Relaxed to the Max !!!!!!!!

Great hotel, excellent attention to detail and customer service; they really did go over and above what is expected. The hotel is family run and has a very personal feel to it. The bus stop into Zadar is a short walk away so the town centre is easily accessible. Would definitely return.

family run hotel with about 20 rooms located between major road with heavy traffic and a very narrow pebble beach. all rooms with balcony and (partial) sea view. Rooms are very small with only basic furniture but dozens of mosquitos. A/C didn't work and no fridge to chill drinks or snacks.
Breakfast buffet was also very basic and you need to be there early to have any choices.
This hotels was one of the cheaper ones in the area but this part of Croatia's coast isn't really worth a stoppover.

This is a wonderful, welcoming hotel. The staff are brilliant. With only the hotels terrace between you and the sea, it's great for a refreshing dip or sitting enjoying a drink and the view.

The Mare Nostrum Hotel is an excellent choice for anyone staying in Zadar. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food for breakfast. The location was ideal for us as we had a hire car. It is only a 15 minute drive to Zadar where it is easy to find cheap parking right in the town centre. The hotel itself has free parking. The view from the hotel is stunning.

To anyone travelling to Zadar, it is a lovely town with plenty of culture and good restaurants, cafes and bars. As we had a car we travelled to the sandy beach at Nin. I would recommend this beach to anyone visiting the area.
