My husband and I held our wedding at Castello di Modanella last month and we can’t recommend the place highly enough. We had an absolutely fantastic experience, not only with the day itself, but the whole run up to our big day was made so easy, with such a dedicated team helping us every step of the way. As a...

The apartments are very rustic and all rooms are a very good size and overall value for money. If you are seeking luxury then these apartments are not for you. We loved these apartments for a family holiday and the scenery is beautiful. The best part of Castello di Modanella is the food, we ate in the restaurant a few...

My husband and I got married at Castello di Modanella in June 2012 and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Fabrizio and his team did a fantastic job of making our wedding a day we’ll never forget. Special mention has to go to Beatrice for all of her help in planning the logistics of the wedding in the...

The Castello Di Modanello is a bit of an anomaly. Perched midway a Tuscan hillside, 30 minutes drive from Sienna, Arrezo or Montelpulciano. It is approached via a rather bumpy 4 mile stony road. When you get to the entrance you are barred by a huge wooden door. You ring the bell and a distant bell rings loudly like a...

Just a couple of weeks after my last review of Modanella we were fortunate enough to return and we didn't want to come home! Please ignore the reviews that this place is not for families as it is. It's not if you don't have a car though BUT why wouldn't you want a car here when it is the perfect...

I absolutely loved, loved, loved Modanella! Having booked there for 5 nights as a wedding guest I expected it to be beautiful, but I really didn't imagine it would be as perfect as it was. If you are after a traditional, rustic setting that captures the essence of Tuscany then this is your place. It is quite clear from the...

September will our 3rd visit to Modanella. We chose Modanella for several reasons. It is central to and no more than 1 hour by car to almost all of Tuscany. When a previous reviewer stated that one needed an auto, at most agriturismo in Tuscany one needs a car. In previous trips with my Italian young cousins we have seen...

First let me say that this is not a review of their wedding service - that as far as I can tell is excellent and this is a beautiful place to have your wedding reception. This is a review of the accommodations, which I am writing as the current score only seems to reflect the wedding aspect of Modanella. Pro's:...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Modanella! It's fabulous! From the setting, the location, the accommodation, the wine, the staff, the scenery, the restaurant ... My advice - just go! It's not 5 star but by way of agriturismo there are probably none better! Nestled in a vineyard and olive groves the castle and villas are all lovely! The location,...

We stayed here as part of a wedding party in June 2012. You definitely need a car to get to the castle as it's up a remote dirt/stony track. The castle is absolutely amazing with stunning views over fields of olive trees and sunflower plantations. Our apartment had everything you needed for a self catering holiday including all the pots,...
