Very nice venue (plenty of parking is always a good start!) and special mention for some of the hosting staff who looked after us very well. Food was good but not without fault - fish dish was very close to being cold (crispy skin was amiss!) and the plates were not very clean looking (greasy thumb prints and spatters) -...

In a group of five adults plus baby in pram, we could not have been made more welcome. A beautiful little Inn perchedby the side of a bridge crossing a canal. Lovely views, super Christmas decorations and the friendliest and most professional staff. Food superb and generous of good value. I also sneaked a Look at the rooms and would...

Called in for light lunch and had a delicious bowl of piping hot Cullen Skink and lovely crisp battered haddock and chips. Ate in bar as it was very busy but same menu as restaurant which was fully booked. Service could have been better but they were very busy!

Arrived with a large party, excellent unfussy service. Had the best Cullen Skunk I've ever eaten, creamy and unctuous with soft chunks of potato and fish, perfectly seasoned. Had the gnocchi as a main, was delicious, but slightly marred by a rather overdressed salad which made the dish rather soggy. Otherwise a delightful evening.

Great meal as usual with attentive but not over fussy service. For starters I had the pigeon and Anne had the salmon (which had been tweaked for the better since the last time we had it). Pigeon beautifully cooked and tender. I had the pork main and she had the roe deer. Wonderful dishes full of flavour and nice texture...

We phoned at relatively short notice to book a table for lunch, on arrival we were shown directly to our table by a very polite waitress. All of the staff were polite and attentive, without being overbearing or fussy. I ordered the gnocchi and my better half had the fish & chips. Both meals arrived at the same time, portion...

Nice walk along the canal with the dog followed by a nice pint and superb lunch at the Bridge Inn. Great staff and food as always and great to be able to take our corgi into the bar area for lunch. Steak and burger both spot on and drink for dog much appreciated!

We visted with a large party on a busy Sunday evening. Everything was very good and professional. The staff were very attentive and food was presented well and was of excellent standard. Good selection of beers too. Will definitely be back very soon

Had visited some months ago for a business lunch and resolved to try an evening visit. Arriving with another couple we were cheerily ushered to our table. However, the bench style seating looked to be a little uncomfortable for my wife who has back issues. On pointing this out, we were moved to another table with great understanding. This set...

We've been here twice for lunch and have not been disappointed with the food. It is very good, of high quality, and plentiful. I think that explains why meals are a bit pricey. Only gripes I have is that the 1st time we visited, I had a chair that backed on to the main route to the loo, so every...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in a stunning and picturesque setting on the banks of the Union Canal, the Bridge Inn is a unique pub and restaurant. The Bridge Inn is a wonderful place to visit, to taste some of our freshly cooked food, try some cask ales or sample from our expanding wine list, and enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Wherever possible we use seasonal, Scottish, fresh, local produce, and everything is freshly prepared. We grow our own herbs and vegetables in a walled garden slightly along the canal from the pub. We have a small herd of saddleback pigs, and our menus often feature delicious home-produced pork on the menu. We use locally-shot game when it is in season. We always have a range of cask ales from breweries which we know throughout Scotland. We have had lots of fun selecting our wine list, which we have tried to make one of the best value wine lists in Scotland. And we currently have on a selection of over 20 single malts from around this beautiful country. We have now finished an ambitious renovation project that has transformed the Bridge Inn. We have created an atmospheric country pub in the 18th century part of the building with open fires and comfortable seating. We have altered the upstairs to create 4 beautiful and unique en-suite bedrooms. They each have a different feel, but each has its own view of the canal and surrounding countryside. The Bridge Inn won Best B & B by Visit Scotland's Thistle Awards for the East of Scotland. Finally our bistro alongside the canal has been upgraded and we have added a terrace alongside the building to make the most of our unique setting. ... more   less
