Kríunes is a true mansion on the waterbank on a small peninsula into lake Ellidavatn. Kríunes is also located in the capital of Reykjavík area. The city Bus goes by not far from here. The facilities are set in a land of unspoiled natural parkland with exceptional mountain view over looking the lake. Many types of birds are by the lake and many hatch their eggs on the location. In Kríunes is a restaurant and a breakfast buffet is a standard provision. Home-baking and our own vegetable as well as trout from the lake is provided.Kríunes is one of the best kept hideaway secrets in the city area were you will combine the benefits of the city and the country.

We found this hotel while on our five day road trip of Iceland, we stayed in each hotel only one night except for this gem. We stayed here two nights because we liked it so much. Free breakfast and free wifi were great. It was the only hotel we found that offered us Netflix in th

Undoubtedly a must for anyone travelling to Iceland. It's out of the city centre, probably the only thing close to a negative for some but the beautiful hotel set in beautiful surroundings makes it all the more desirable. Family ran business that make you feel right at home from

We chose this guesthouse based on the Tripadvisor reviews. The rooms were a bit outdated but the beds were comfortable and the food was good. They had a nice seletion of food for us veggies. loved the beautiful view from the dining room. Would definitely recommend staying there!

This is a fairly new guesthouse, which is not completely finished. It's next to water with a fine view. Arriving in Iceland, we had a large room (number 22), rather stark in grey but comfortable with a modern en suite with an excellent shower. Very comfortable mattress. Dinner co

First impressions are not good. The hotel is on the distant outskirts of Rejkjavik amongst some houses, holiday chalets and light industrial units. As you approach the front entrance, it looks rather like a wooden chalet with some bizarre donkey plant holders at the front. On che

Liked your review. You mentioned driving into Reykjavik. Is it far and isthere public transport Frank
It is about 45 minuets from airport by car. I don’t believe there’s public to get you there.

Is the construction at Hotel Kriunes completed?
No, It's still ongoing. There's a lot of work going on outside so both terraces are only partly available. Some bedrooms are renovated whereas others are still waiting.

How far are you from Vatnojokull National Park? we are a party of 4 - need 2 rooms and would like to do the Glacier tour and maybe the Ice caving one. Looking forward to your kind reply, V. Albano
Dear V. Albano, To drive without stop to vatnajökull glacier will take you 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Would you like us to drive you or you want to drive yourself? There are lots of companies that do glacier hike on Vatnajökull glacier and you can also book a trip with super jeeps that will drive you on the glacier and show you some awesome ice caves. kind regards. How far is the hotel from the main town/things to do? Is it walking distance
This hotel is away from main towns: its charm is in the surrounding lake, quiet area and wildlife. Because you are away from the lights, you could get a decent view of the aurora from here so it's well worth it. I'd advise you to hire a car if possible - it will give you lots of freedom to explore properly. The closest bus stop is about 15 mins walk away and you need to change buses once to get into Reykjavik. Taxis are expensive - about £50 into Reyjavik and it's about 25 mins drive.
