Location is picture perfect. Service is Five star. Rooms are very comfortable from bed warmer to room heater to hot water geyser and upscale bathroom amenities. Would definitely recommend this is the best place to stay while visiting Dharamshala.

Dear Sir, Greetings! I am extremely delighted to know that you have compared us to Taj in terms of service and you have been very generous with your compliments. Thank you very much for your time in writing this wonderful review for us. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and to know that your stay with us was comfortable and enjoyable. Our team consists of local village boys who have since the start been very hard working and serve from the heart. They unfortunately have not had any formal hotel/ service training but its their sincerity and the willingness to ensure that each and every guest of our goes back with a pleasant memory of their time spent here. I thank you once again for this wonderful review and we all at Udechee look forward to welcoming you back soon in the near future. Warm Regards,

As I review this place, I am still staying at Udechee Huts. This is by far the best hotel I have stayed in the Himalayan region and I have travelled quite a lot in Himachal & Uttarakhand.
We were earlier booked in the hotel from 12th April to 16th April but due to lockdown imposed in Mumbai we (me and my wife) have now been indefinetely staying at this place (for almost a month now) and this feels now like home. Some of the significant factors that are unique to Udechee Huts and have made our stay both pleasant and memorable are as below
1) Amazing views of the Dauladhar range. From almost all the rooms, the view is absolutely spectacular. You cannot expect a better view from your rooms.
2) Beautiful garden inside the hotel with flowers everywhere, it almost seems like a paradise and i see the gardener maintaining the gardens almost everyday very meticulously. Since this is blossom season i think, you can see flowers everywhere that attracts bees and birds
3) Well maintained rooms and common areas like restaurant, library etc. The rooms have everything you would need for a comfortable stay like proper heating with A/C (this is so important when it gets chilly), carpeted rooms, good quality and working water heaters with 25L capacity for a nice hot bath, tea-coffee maker in the room, room service, affordable laundry services and a nice breakfast. The library is great for working (as now i use it as my temporary office) and it has a great view also
4) The staff of Udechee has been well trained and they are prompt and well mannered and know their job. They were very particular about covid protocols and ensured rooms and common areas were sanitised, all staff wear masks and gloves always, are neatly dressed and well mannered and polite. We even requested for some food items not in the menu and the cook came to us and himself ensured that we got what we wanted. I thank the staff Sushil, Bipin, Rinku and Manjit for their courteous behaviour and service
5) Location is great for nice evening walks around the place that we enjoy everyday
To summarise, Udechee Huts has all the ingredients one expects for a nice holiday home in the lap of the himalayas. Lastly i would like to acknowledge Mr Yaduraj Singh - the owner of the place who keeps checking on us for our needs and takes care of what we want. During lockdown, he even arranged for some documents to be couriered to my office in Mumbai.
Lastly, this place is not cheap so if someone expects it to be matching prices of nearby hotels its not possible as during my stay on my walks a few people offered me rooms for lower prices but we wanted a quality place rather than cheap ones. Moreover, Mr Yaduraj Singh also gave us a great discount for our longer stay due to lockdown so it worked out just fine.
While i still dont know how long i will stay more at Udechee Huts, this has now become a home for us away from home. I am sure that I will try my best to be back here soon :)

Dear Sir, Greetings! I do not have enough words to express my gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful review and the encouragement that this has given us specially after one of the previous review that we received for no real fault of ours. My team and I are extremely grateful and thankful to you for your support in these times in helping our business. Like the old saying goes " Friends in need are friends indeed " and for us you have been that friend who has really helped us by using our services in these times. Udechee Huts will always be your home in the mountains and we will always have our doors open for you. This extremely detailed and beautifully written review is a big morale booster for all of us and specially the team who you have mentioned. I will pass on your compliments to them and they will be extremely delighted to hear from you. Being a 30 year old family run hotel we have tried our best to ensure that the property is maintained and our staff has also learned over the years to make guests feel at home rather than in a hotel. These are local men and boys from the village and not any professionally trained staff hence they serve from the heart and always tries to ensure the best service is provided to our guests. I want to once again thank you and honestly words are not enough to express our gratitude to you and ma'am for being with us during these times. Warm Regards,

We stayed for three nights during November. Covid was naturally a concern, but the hotel takes the utmost care and precaution in ensuring a safe stay. Masks are worn by the staff at all times, and sanitisers are placed in common areas. Rooms are carefully sanitised after each guest vacates as well.

We were given Room 13, which had been recommended to us someone who had stayed before. The view from the room was absolutely spectacular! The views in general are amazing, particularly from the common balcony outside the library.

The staff were all extremely courteous and helpful and did their best to assist in every way! Ajay and Rinku especially took good care, and provided us with helpful recommendations .

The food is simple, clean and fresh. Their lemon. honey and ginger one is a must have!

The hotel is located about 15-20 minutes from the centre of Mcleod Ganj and taxis are easily available. From the Dharamsala airport it is about 1 hour by car.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip!

Visited here with family and friends in the month of December last week for 3 nights. It is best property in mcleodganj , with best view of the Dhauladhars. The huts are designed in such a way that you get a great views from the rooms. The property is located in naddi approximately 4 km from the market.
The check Inn was smooth. The rooms are good . Try to go for dexluxe / super deluxe types which is much more spacious.
Rooms have electric blankets,hot/cold AC , which made very comfortable in extreme winters.
Washrooms are basic but clean.
Buffet breakfast is average.needs to include more variety.
Food for dinner is again average.need to add more variety and local himachali cuisine. Dinning hall is neat and food is served very well by the boys.
The room service is ok, the boys are very hardworking but need proper training, little more professional for better appreciations.
They also arrange bonefire ( paid).
Overall it was a great stay.
I would definitely recommend to stay here at least for 3 nights .

Dear Sir, Greetings and thank you for time in writing a positive review for us. I am delighted to know that you enjoyed the hotel and its services along with the views that are visible from here. We have always taken pride in calling ourselves a basic simple family run hotel that is not run like professional hotels and has its own taste and character which I do understand may not suit everyone. We will work on our breakfast and dinner menu as mentioned. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Warm Regards,

This was me and my wife's first trip since the pandemic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had booked a superior deluxe room and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. The room was spacious, clean and sanitized. Buffet breakfast was great, the home made pastries were delightful. Food we ordered was done as per our request and was fresh. This place was really quiet and peaceful.

This is a place you must stay.

The management was honest with the timings, and we for one totally appreciated it. We visited end of November, where the temperature was around 6 degrees Celsius.
1)Food takes 45 minutes to prepare, but it's totally worth the wait.
2)The heater takes 30 minutes to heat up, and will take another 15-20 minutes after someone takes a bath.
3)The room heater takes an hour or two to start heating up the room.
4) The beds have heating and it takes about 15-20 minutes to warm up.

Special thanks to Mr.Praveen and Mr.Ashwini for making sure our stay was pleasant. Thanks to Mr.Akshay for the travel arrangements and to Mr.Shammi from Himalayan wellness for giving us the best foot massage after our Triund trek.

A few other points
1) Sunrise and Sunsets points are a 2 minute walk. You will not be able to see the Sunrise or the Sunset from the Superior deluxe rooms.
2) This resort is located at Naddi and is at an higher altitude than McLeodganj, so it gets colder. It's also cleaner and less crowded compared to Mcleodganj or Dharamshala.
3) Dal lake which is nearby is now without any water.
4) There is nothing much to see in this place.

Overall, we're really enjoyed our stay. It was a good place to unwind and not once did we feel insecure about corona infection or overall sanitation.

Dear Sir, Greetings! Thank you for your time and patience in writing such a detailed and an elaborate review for us. I am certain that anyone reading the review will get a very clear picture as to what to expect once they book with us and I am very thankful to you for that. I am delighted to know that your stay with us was comfortable and that you enjoyed the hotel, its views and its services. As we are a small hotel, we try and customize our food preparations for our guests hence we do not keep any prepared food so as to minimize wastage and provide fresh items. Our main aim for the last 30 years has been to ensure homely and comfortable service to our guests and I am very happy that Ashwani who has been with us for 30 years and Praveen who has been working for the last 8 years have been able to display these values that we stand by. I will pass on your compliments to them and they will be very happy to hear the same and its this gift that keeps them motivated and performing better each time. We all at Udechee thank you for your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Warm Regards,

This is my second trip to Udechee huts this year and it will continue to rank topmost on my list of places to stay in the hills. From the spectacular view of the Dhauladhar ranges, to the beautifully landscaped gardens, to the lovely variety of birds one gets to see, this place is just what a city dweller needs to come and unwind. The hospitality of every staff, and the very helpful and welcoming nature of Mr. Yaduraaj Singh makes it a home away from home. The highlights of the trip for me were the views from every spot of the property, esepcially the sit out and the library. The food was wholesome and very well made, and it is a huge spread. The access to treks such as Triund, Guna Devi, or a scenic walk to McLeodganj market was noteworthy. Ashwini ji, the man who served food and took care to make sure the stay was comfortable, paid great attention to detail. The rooms and bathroom are spacious and clean, and well serviced, and there is ample light streaming in through the windows. I love the sit outs each hut has, where one can take in the views, and just enjoy the silences.

They took very good care of the covid protocols. I could see how frequently they were sanitizing the public areas, the staff wore masks, and there was a hand sanitizer kept in the room which I thought was nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place to people who really want to connect with themselves and their loved ones, far from the maddening urban life.

This was for us our vacation in 2020 and Udechee huts made sure that they made us feel welcome and more importantly safe. The staff is very hospitable and the food is almost home made. The rooms are well heated with AC heater and an electric blanket ( something I had never used before ) and thus it is comfortable even at negative temperatures.

They are well placed right in front on the Dhauladhar range and around 10-15 km from Dharmasala. Given they are significantly higher than dharmasala and Mcleodganj it is significantly colder and hence we got snow.

However the last stretch of road from Dharmasala to their place is very steep and narrow. So if you do not have enough experience driving in the hills you may think about whether to take self driving or not. I self drove till dharamsala without any issue but found the last 10 km quite challenging. Other than this minor consideration this hotel does not have any cons I can think of

Please remember this is not a luxury resort but is a very comfortable place with good service and good views.

Dear Sir, Greetings and thank you very much for your time in writing such a wonderful review for us. I am delighted to know that you and your family had a comfortable stay with us and that our services were to your expectations. I will pass on your compliments to the team and they will be very happy to hear from you. I am very happy that you have mentioned very categorically to our other guests that we are not a luxury resort, as many of them after reading the reviews think of us as a luxury resort however we are like you said a very simple and small hotel that tries to ensure a comfortable stay for our guests. I also agree with your review on the road conditions after Dharamshala and that is probably because you must have taken the short cut from Dharamshala that brings you to Mcleodgunj. Thats a steep road however if you take the long way through the army area, its more comfortable as the Volvos also ply on that road all the way up to Mcleodgunj. After that the 5 KM road to Naddi is narrow. But like someone said "difficult roads lead to beautiful places". I thank you once again for your time and this wonderful review and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Warm Regards,

We stayed in Udechee for 5 nights and had a great time. The view from the hotel is absolutely mesmerizing and one can sit there for hours admiring the Dhauadhar ranges.

Pros:
The staff is very courteous, they took proper measures towards sanitization and everyone was wearing masks at all times. The food was good and not very expensive.

Cons:
The rooms are not as spacious, even the washrooms.

A trip to Mc Leodganj and Dharamshala was on our bucket list for a long time. We finally decided on the journey this February. The place being a sought-after a after tourist destination, there is no dearth of lodging places.

After an intense session of browsing and reading multiple reviews we homed on to Udechee resorts. The background as seen in the photographs was scenic and rates at 4500 per night for a deluxe room
seemed reasonable.

We had planned for a only a two night trip with Dalhousie visit included. A stay at Udechee resorts fitted our plans as the place is located on a fringe near Dal lake. We could visit a good number of places in Dharamshala and Mc Leodganj on our way to Udechee without having to retrace our route anywhere.

Now for the stay. We reached late in the night totally exhausted after the long and winding trip. The decor of the stone cottage which were shown in was itself a relaxing factor. The room was simple, elegant and warm.

We moved to the main hall for dinner. Food though short on variety was sumptuous. The walls are adorned with some classic photo frames of wildlife. The snaps apparently were from the resort owner Mr Abhay singh's  lens.

We could see a faint outline of the Dhauladar ranges as we retired for the night. The morning revealed Mother Nature in its resplendent glory. The snow capped peaks were right above our heads and we were being nestled on the lap of the mountain ranges. We savoured the breath taking view from the  gazeebo and open sit out over cups of piping hot coffee before finally being coaxed out of our stupor by the persistent honking of our rental car.

This definitely is only the first of many trips that we will be making to this resort.

I would truly like to express my gratitude towards the impeccable quality and service levels that Udeechee huts has provided us during our 3 day visit there.

Let me sum up the highs so that everyone knows what they are getting into.

1. All the food made is Fresh, you are in for a treat to the senses.

2. Large size rooms.

3. Breathtaking views of the mountains, on the second day we decided to stay in the whole day and just take in the views.

4. A wide variety of flowers and plants all across the property.

5. With the current COVID situation in mind, they have been following strict protocols to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness.

All in all, I would highly recommend this place to folks looking to kick back and enjoy a nice relaxing vacation in the mountains. The place is away from the bustling tourist traps and brings about a sense of humility in a person when you wake up to the towering mountains at the crack of dawn through your room.
