I stayed in Hotel Deodar Villa for one day hotel was excellent, view from room are amazing, staff was very sportive and friendly. That was amazing stay i Loved it. If someone come to Mcleodganj and find a good hotel you'll visit Deodar Villa.
Best part is next to Dalai Lama temple. It is situated at the top of McLeod so naturally the sight is awesome from the common terrace. During night the view is mesmerising and local market is also few steps away.
We booked Deodar villa hotel for the view and certainly got it Spacious room large bathroom. We'll worn place but kept adequately clean could be better. We are here off season so hardly any guest/staff. No food/restaurant. Hotel on a very steep narrow lane. Only small cars can use. We were met at nearby car park and hotel transport took our luggage whilst we walked the 100ms or so up lane. No a/c (I think they don't allow in this state) but ceiling fan. Lots of lovely cafe type places nearby for breakfast plus a huge variety of eating places. Good fun shopping. I found vendors in both shops and stalls very polite and not pushy maybe as it was off season.
My stay with this hotel was so terrible, right from the beginning we entered the hotel. Staff won't carry your bags. Rooms were dusty,TV remotes did not have the battery. Reception hardly picks the call and bluntly say no to any service. View from the balcony was good but only one person can sit in the balcony due to less space. Plus you have to clean the chairs in the balcony and if you will ask the room service to do this, they will take forever and make faces. Food was pathetic, staff will behave in a manner so that you don't order. Once We were so tired that we did not have the energy to go down hill, we ordered food from the hotel, they took 1 hour to deliver the food on our room. They don't let you have any meal in their restaurant.
I'll just be very straight to point Pros: - Great location, view of the valley from the balcony is amazing - Nearby Dalai Lama temple/temple road, so lot of options to eat. - The hotel is very peaceful and you can just relax Cons: - Poor service (cleaning people were not keen to service, breakfast took 1 hour to be served that too with multiple follow-ups) - Not value for money (way too much for the services they offer) - 100 meter steep walk to reach hotel (could be a problem for old people) although hotel provides alto/Omni car for Check in and check out only on request, no other car can reach as it's very narrow If you're fine to pay a hefty amount for the kind of service you get just for the location, go for it. P.S. I'm not very tough to please! :)
I stayed there for 5 nights, we booked Delux room but we we’re offered super Delux room. Though they didn’t clean the rooms themselves but upon request they did it. Food was ok but we mainly ate at temple road and main square restaurants as there are many. my review in points: 1. Beautiful view from attached balcony 2. Clean and spacious rooms 3. Friendly staff ( both Ajay’s:) ) 4. From Dalai Lama temple way to Hotel is uphill only Maruti Omni and Zen can go till hotel. But no parking there. 5. Not good for elderly people as way is uphills, a car or motor bike needed.
Basic accommodation but we really liked it. Very helpful and friendly staff. Didn't service the room at all while we were there for 4 nights but suspect they would have if we asked them. Steep walk up to the hotel but the views are amazing. Would stay there again
Went with a Group of 5 friends and had a pleasant stay at this place. Rooms were clean and spacious but hotel staff was very lazy and rude. Worst part of this hotel is that they close there Kitchen at 10PM sharp, even a minute after they dont take any order. Food at this place is decent enough. Location of this Hotel is at an incline so parking your vehicle can be a problem, plus they do not have any hotel parking. Dalai Lama Temple and Mall road both are at walking distance from the Hotel.
The good part of this hotel is its closeness to Dalai lama temple and the view it provides of Dharamsala valley and Dhauladhar range. Coming to the major drawback of the hotel, it is the location itself, located on a narrow lane (where only Maruti 800 and Omni can go) and a steep climb with no Vehicle parking makes it difficult in case you are not a adventure traveler. We liked this place mainly as we could do most of the activity by walk. And full marks to the view. Coming to the rooms, they are spacious and can accommodate three people. Again rooms are built along the valley so one might need to climb down and no lift. So check on this. There is a inhouse serving kitchen and food is good (mainly punjabi) and quantity is sufficient. We had dinner on one of the nights. Since being close to temple, you have other options of food also (we wanted to try Tibetan food options). There is a free WiFi but it is poor in many rooms, this is mainly due to downward elevation of the rooms. Overall, we had a good stay here and would recommend this to any nature, adventure loving person.…
