We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our meals (breakfast and dinner) at the Hummingbird Restaurant downstairs which offers Chinese and Tibetan dishes. Each staff member conveyed Tibetan warmth and hospitality in their interactions with us. The staff were fluent in English and were willing share snippets of information about Tibetan life. We would definitely recommend a trip to...

Excellent Hotel owned by HH DALAI LAMA trust. Very close to the temple and close to Shopping. We were in Luxury Room and Room was spacious and well Furnished. Food was nice. We need to climb to reach the hotel and also it does not have Lift to go up to your Room. On the third floor. This is negative...

The rooms are spacious, we had a balcony looking to the Himalayas with great view and terrific sunset. Right opposite to the Dalai Lama complex, 10 minutes walk from the center square. Shower needs rework and improvement. Nice breakfast- no buffet, just 3 options from the menu. Nice and kind staff

I think Chonor has to be one of the poorest hotels we have stayed in: Ever. The dissatisfaction goes way beyond the fact that the room’s balcony (Kham Room) overlooks a building site and when complete, will look right onto a wall of an adjoining hotel. Our experience started on arrival. We were met by our guide from the airport....

This place is just next to HH Dalai Lama Temple in Mcleodganj. Only thing is that this property is having a steep climb so thats a point to consider while travelling with kids or senior citizens; though car goes upto the main gate of hotel. Rooms are spacious, airy and with windows; washrooms in the new rooms are modern but...

Mcleodganj is one of my favourite places to visit, especially when I need some more 'me time'. I keep trying out different hotels and resorts there but I find Chonor House to be the best of them all. None can match the warm hospitality of its staff, the proximity to the Dalai Lama monastery, great food and the beautifully decorated...

The staff is friendly and helpful, by far the best part of the hotel. Overall I would say that the hotel is shabby chic at this point. They need to spend some $$. Rooms are charming but for the price (at the high end for Mcleod Ganj) they need to pay attention to details. Lots of little things were broken....

Bathroom desperately needs to be updated, damp - burst had not been sorted paint flaking from ceiling, cubicle shower floor broken up. Breakfast was cold and had to ask for it to be heated up. Could be a fabulous experience and insight into Tibetan culture but needs strong management and an input of cash.
