Access to hotel is via a small car park area at base of stairs - hotel set on mountainside. Manageable but a task for luggage porters and driver. Reception area friendly and process seamless after producing all relevant documents. No lifts - my room on top level but manageable. Small library located near reception. Restaurant and dining area one level down. My room had a comfortable bed, en suite bathroom with hot water. Small fridge and tea making facilities and water bottles. The views from balcony - overlooked where monks resided and out towards township - big cedar trees block views but not in a bad way. Morning mists lift to reveal many crows and kites flying and the cable car taking passengers on a ride. Only drawback - is - that there are many dogs - street dogs and house pets - that bark all night. Need to take cushions from outdoor furniture on balcony in at night in case monkeys take or destroy them. Aircon worked to keep room warm. Great colourful decor theme throughout hotel. Very Tibetan influences - reflected in menu. many monks and nuns come to dine at this hotel. I enjoyed my stay. The only matter I had to raise was that even though I had a 'do not disturb' sign on my door, housekeeping entered the room while I took an afternoon nap to deliver my laundry. Do not disturb sign didn't work that day. Food at restaurant was simple fare and enough to satisfy. Staff all helpful. Thank you.…
Excellent hotel. Beautiful paintings on the walls from local artists, hand-made rugs from norbulingka artists (Tibetan handicrafts and artisans) Excellent food in-house. Very close to the Dalai Lama temple complex. Very kind staff.
The location is good if you want to visit specific places in Dharamshala. However, there are no views, and it is quite cramped in space. The rooms have beautiful paintings on the walls but are quite dated. Water was leaking out of my bathroom. It is well priced, well located - I did not eat any meals there so cannot comment on the food. Breakfast was not included. Staff is extremely friendly and hospitable which is a plus. Would recommend if you want to be near the temple, which is their location advantage.
Chonor house McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala is the perfect place to stay if you want to fall in love with the beauty of nature and the taste of delicious food. I visited with my 10 year old son. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot right next to the Cora walk, and from the restaurant balcony you can see the residence of HH Dalai Lama. The traditional dumplings called momos are a must-try in the on site restaurant, and be sure to enjoy a cup of hot tea while you take in the incredible views. The rooms are decorated with handmade Tibetan furniture, spacious and clean rooms!
Chonor house at mcleodgunj is a visitor's delight. It is a treat for the tired souls. The hospitality and services which are given here are beyond expectations. The ladies staff exude such warmth and love .They make u feel at home. The house keeping staff clean the rooms very meticulosly Whether it is bringing hot water to the rooms or any other request placed they attend to it instantly. Another plus point of this hotel is it is just a stone's throw from the market place and Dalai lama temple. The skyline which is yet to be launched is also very close . Overall a good place to stay
Chonor house is n excellent choice with great decor, pricing, very comfortable and lovely sweet staff , also it’s very strategically located , 10 mts to the town square and they bake their own awesome breads !!
View of snow capped mountains from your room window. Quaint charming and great mystic vibes. Rooms are beautifully furnished in wood and surprisingly the bathrooms are very swanky. Service is courteous and after a long time I saw carpeted stairs :) their sun room kind of lounge is where I could spend months it's so beautiful with like a sky view . Waiting to visit again
This hotel and restaurant represent great Tibetan hospitality and culture and cuisine. Beautifully decorated Tibetan restauant, professional service, excellent menu. I enjoyed the very best meal during my 10 days in Dharamsala and my friends were delighted. they have a shop I would have loved to visit, Tibetan clothing etc, but it was closed when we finished dinner. Maybe next time.....
The property is beautifully appointed with each room having a story and a different style of interiors. The warmth and hospitality of the property starts from the check-in itself, and the staff are so warm and friendly, and helpful. Little touches like hot water bottles in the bed each evening, add a wonderful touch of hospitality. The property is well-located and really close to most of the sights and sounds of McLeodganj. The restaurant is alright, serving indian, international and some tibetan fare. The views are unique, ranging from the monastery nearby to the distant snow capped peaks of the Dhauladhar range. All in all, I would def recommend it, and look forward to visiting again soon.
Hotel is 2min walking from the Dalai Lama Temple Complex and 5min walking from the centre of Mcloedganj. Location is very nice. We reached there late at night so we had little difficulty in finding the hotel. Rooms are spacious and big with a private balcony. We took the room on the highest floor which has unobstructed view. All rooms have different themes - so there are unique and nice. Well furnished with all amenities. As it was winter, every evening at turndown, they kept hot water bags on the beds which could be used to keep us warm. Room was equipped with heater too. Food was good - breakfast limited as it wasnt tourist season. But the food was good. Staff was very friendly and nice. From the reception, housekeeping to the restaurant staff - all were really great. We spoke to the manager also, Mr. Dorgi - really sweet person and very helpful. It's run by Tibetans and is one of their main source of income to run the Norbulingka Institute. It will be considered as one of the premium hotels to stay at in Mcloedganj, room tariff compared to other hotels is high but i guess it's worth it.…
