Had a best stay ever in Mcleodganj, located right next to Monastry, its a villa with care takers who serve you good, tasty food with services at its best, comfortable stay & reasonable too. Good for front room with valley view, during day it has good sun shine at its balcony & very well ventilated.
It was a great stay at Horizon villa north. Gaurav our manager was very cordial and helpful throughout the booking process and during our stay. Great location with a beautiful view. It is close to the Tibetan monastery so very peaceful and has a walk full of prayer wheels and flags decorating the path.
Horizon villa is owned by 2 brothers but operated separately, hence the names North & South. Horizon villa - north is the first floor of the villa. Basically this villa is a holiday home, converted into a homestay type of a hotel. I stayed 2 nights in north and 2 in south. Here I write review only about the north. I stayed in the luxury room of the villa, room was very spacious and had a small balcony, which was shared with the adjacent room though. But view from the room was very good. In the evening u have amazing sunset view from the room. Staff is very helpful. One thing which I dint like was bathroom was not very clean and u can make out that its old. If that can be renovated and modernised a bit, would be a good place to stay.
Horizon Villa is located in the quietest, most peaceful part of McLeodganj. The only sounds you'll hear are the chanting of monks occasionally. The walk along the temple wall to reach the hotel takes you from the chaos of Dharamshala bazaar to a reall retreat - it's beautiful. The rooms are very spacious and clean and the bathrooms more than adequate. Kettle is provided and there's space to sit looking over the gorgeous view and sip / eat at your leisure. In addition, the lounge / dining room also looks out over the valley and is comfortable and homely. There is even a balcony with a full drying rack if you're in need of a washing catch up! The food is delicious and freshly cooked and the service really good. If you want somewhere peaceful and relaxing within easy walk of everything you'll want to see here, then this is the place. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to friends.…
It was a trip worth remembering! The balcony over the porch was our haven... we sat there till late at night overlooking the breathtaking valley view and chatting away! The rooms are neat and comfortable!! The lobby/Dining area is tastefully decorated! But what made This trip memorable was the hospitality and warmth of the staff!! These boys are fab cooks, and super co-operating!! Must visit if you wanna enjoy the Mountain Life!
My wife and I stayed at the north villa (flr 1) for two days along with my brother, his wife and their 8-yr old kid. Location: Provides the best view of Kangra valley as well as the sunset. Jst a 20-min (qtr of which is a steep slope) walk to the Dalai Lama temple. Close to the McLeod gunj market area yet maintains the serenity of Dharamshala. Pricing: Menu is quite diverse and an avg meal will cost you INR 800 bucks pp. Considering the convenience and food taste (not to mention hospitality) we found it worth. Hospitality and Service: This place is a blend of serviced apartment and home stay. Deepak and Anuj (the two caretakers) took good care of us. They accommodated our requests with a smile and were always available to assist. I was even contacted by Gaurav the Manager to confirm our check in time - something even big hotels dont. Comfort: The bed mattress in the non luxury rooms were quite stiff and uncomfortable - something that should be looked at. No concerns otherwise. …
Room is good and spacious. The hotel is basically a beautifully designed house being transferred to a Hotel later. Beautiful architecture associated with the property. I should also appreciate the owners choice of the space. You can enjoy an awesome sunset over the valley sitting at the Big balcony associated with the spacious Lobby. Food is average but service is excellent and on time. Viewers can get a detailed review and sight of the property in our Vlogging channel in Youtube as "RoadWanderers - Wander is Life".
Excellent, spacious, airy rooms with beautiful view. Bathrooms are big but lacks some facilities like basic toiletries, fresh towels everyday and mineral water. The food served was fresh and piping hot. Quite good location as it is close to the Dalai Lama's temple though the road is very steep.
First the good points: location! It is five minutes walk from the Dalai Lama's temple (but part of that is very steep). And its location gives it a superb view over the Kangra valley. You can sit on the balcony, have tea and just stare into infinity....or, if it is foggy, listen to the kites whistling as they soar past. The internet is quite good. It is out of the town centre, so it is quiet. Not so good points: it is not run like a hotel. There is a group of men who are very helpful if they happen to be there, but it seems that the place is unstaffed much of the time. Nobody seems to come during the day to make up the rooms, so you need to ask for basic things like clean towels, trash removal and so on. You also do not get things like bottled drinking water which is usually standard. The quality of maintenance is rather lacking and the bed is quite uncomfortable. The linen and bed covers are musty, but, in the monsoon season, that may be unavoidable. Clearly, this was a house, converted into a guesthouse. A benefit from this is the big living room that seems to be available for all guests. This room has great views and comfortable, quality furniture. With a bit of investment and a bit of work, this place could be a really nice boutique hotel. But it falls badly short.…
Most times internet hotel bookings are a gamble, as you end up being seduced by the pics, location highlights and reviews. So decided to keep my expectations to the minimum and also kept my fingers crossed. Though it is listed as a hotel, it should be categorised as a home stay. Location is central, yet serene and the view from this property is very beautiful as you do not see any other hotel or any other building in the near vicinity. It also provides parking facility on the location. As there are only 6 rooms in this property, it can be an excellent choice for an extended family vacation, as in that case you will have the whole property to yourself. Boarding and Lodging is good, serving staff is very pleasant and courteous. The things that leave a sour taste are paid wifi, and that slightly Indian middle class stinginess in terms of providing a mini soap, not providing shampoos or a shower gel, and also being very miserly on the number of tea bags, sugar or dairy whitener, that you get.Pics on the hotel listing are accurate. Would recommend the location very strongly.…
