It was very good trip .Number of Hotels are there from low range to high .
At a distance of 2km you can enjoy tracking, water falls near Bhasgunag temple.
But when we visited the trecking, it was off as the seasons are in winters to visit trecking, camping. It will again repoen from October. But you can go to nearby mountains with local guider.
Dalialama tample was also nice and you can learn about Buddhist religion. Without Mask there is no entry. From Mcleodganj there is also an Ropeway service available to dharamshala at the cost of 450 rupees per person up and down. It will take 10 to 12 min to reach dharmshala through Ropeway during winter season the ice blocks the road down through dharmshala which is hard to travel by road so for that situation the Ropeway is very helpful and useful. The Tibetan and Punjabi food was also very delicious in kangra guest house. If you want to explore the place a little more then you should only go by in week days just avoid Saturday and Sunday as the crowd and traffics are very high among these 2 days as the streets are also narrow so you will find difficulty walking on these 2 days, as the area is covered by cars...but for the week days you can enjoy yourself upto your fullest. The streets are also covered with Tibetan shops and culture you will observe that the number of quality and quantity are much more than that of any other states culture or shops....We also went to ask for paragliding, but we came to know that the season is from October to January u can visit to Mcleodganj during October to January for any extracurricular activities. There is also an Cricket stadium in Dharmshala that's also very astonishing and beautiful as for now when we went there it was under construction regardless of that the area was still maintained and cleaned by the authorities, so you can also visit there. And the distance of 2km there is also a tea garden as dharmshala is known widely for it's tea plantation so you can also visit there and enjoy yourselves

This was my first solo trip and what better could have I asked for. Room was good, well lit with basic amenities. Sahil and Anil the owners were very cooperative and helpful. They guided me with the local cab drivers and tour guides. Service was very good. Aunty made me feel like home with home cooked food. Overall a very good, safe stay and I am totally satisfied. Value for money.

I have been here 4 times since June 2022. The location is too beautiful ❤️. The price is also economical. The staff and ambience is really good. All the tourist attractions are really near from this. Food is also good. The rooms were clean. Overall i had a great experience while sitting at the deck and having food.

The first thing I would say is don't go by reviews of this hotel and its ranking on TripAdvisor. It is nothing like the owners have described it. We booked the hotel after reading its reviews & I stayed for a night in the hotel with my parents and my brother & believe me it was a nightmare.
First of all we had a tough time finding the exact location of the hotel. Its in a remote area and even the locals don't know where it was. Our taxi driver started complaining & even google maps got confused. After many detours and numerous calls to the manager we finally found the hotel and to our surprise the name of hotel ie Mcleodganj homestay was not even mentioned outside the hotel. Instead the manager called it by the restaurant's name "Taste of India", which is not mentioned in the site by the way.
The hotel was a total disappointment. It seems like the owner family has just extended few rooms of their house and started renting them. The stairs were cemented and horrifying. We were given the so called terrace garden room with a dirty small balcony on the second floor. There was no elevator to reach there. There were no waiters or workers except the manager and his family. Hence, Room service was extremely slow and poor. At night the water in the tank was finished and then the manager struggled half hour to get the water back to our room due to some air bubble problem. The manager was very rude when we complained about anything. To every complaint he replied "Sir, this is a homestay not a hotel."
The location is also very poor. Even the auto rickshaws refused to drop us back at night when we were returning from the market. The road to the market was dark and scary so we had to call our driver again who had to struggle hard in traffic in the market and heavy mountainous roads to the hotel. In the name of complimentary breakfast we were provided only with aloo paratha and tasteless organic tea. Overall it was a blemish on our trip to beautiful city of dharamshala.
So I really suggest there are many good, big and reasonable hotels in Mcleodganj in the main market itself, please prefer them rather than mcleodganj homestay or flourising flora or taste of India, whatever they call it!!
P.S. I know the manager will reply this post saying its full of false accusations like he did with other reviewers saying our homestay is great. But I am a frequent traveler and know what good hotels are like so am reviewing this for my fellow travelers.

Disclaimer - I haven't stayed at this place. Just tried booking which proved to be a hassle.
I called up Mr. Sarin and he seemed to be a very nice person. He told me one room is still available and sent me the payment method to reserve the room. It involved a bank transfer, which obviously can't be made instantaneously. I told him that it will take a little time or alternatively I could pay by any other method like through a credit card. His response surprised me when he said credit card payments are accepted only from foreigners as Indians do not pay by credit card. He however was kind enough to tell me he would hold the reservation for 4-5 hours before I could pay.
I registered him as a payee and was completing the payment when he called again and said the room has been booked by foreigners.
While overall he was courteous, and the place must be excellent (as mentioned in all the other reviews), the whole experience reeked of preference to foreigners. Very disappointed!

We (4 couples + 2 children aged 6 each) had travelled to Mcleodganj in November and reached there after a nice time in Khajjiar and Dalhousie. Varun Lokhande who was part of our group has already detailed our miserable experience in a review. The response to his review by the Sarin family is not factual. One can spin stories but cannot lie about facts.
1. We planned to stay there for 2 nights and had to leave because the service was pathetic and the place was just not suitable for family. The allegation that we planned to stay for 1 night only is untrue and confirmed by the fact that after having to leave this place we had to drive all the way back to Amritsar which we reached late night and were lucky to get rooms at Hotel Sapphire (which we were supposed to reach only the following day). Sarin's mention about us a priori wanting a refund and going to Jwalamukhi is rubbish. Truth is borne out by the fact that we had to do a last minute booking at Sapphire. Also, our group had booked all 4 rooms so the allegation that we reached with excess people is false. We had also taken all our luggage to the rooms (incl the climb up to the cabin). The driver from our travel agency can confirm the same. But let me come to even more clinching facts.
2. While reviews on Tripadvisor have been positive, it may be because 2 rooms are indeed livable but the other 2 are absolutely bad. FACT: 1 room on ground floor is so small that you cannot unpack.FACT: The hillside cabin is a tin shanty. There are gaps in the roof and wind comes right in.
3. There are no basic amenities in rooms. FACT: There is no water tap other than a small basin and a shower. Buckets and mugs are not provided because they are useless. So you can take a handful of water in basin or you need to stand under shower.
4. FACT: Even on a paid basis, they can provide only 3 heaters amongst 4 rooms. So 1 room has to feel the cold.
The food was completely insipid and I am surprised that Mrs Sarin runs a cookery class. At best, I can say that she had a bad day at cooking. The fact is we fell into trap of believing them and had to pay the price. However, Sarin's response of resorting to blatant untruths exposes his character.
Net net, even giving all the benefit of all doubt to Sarin, the place may be good for backpackers and single travellers but is unsuitable for children or middle aged people. Don't get taken in by the reviews.

It's not so far from the town centre, but very quiet and peaceful. Run by two brothers, it's also a plant nursery, hence the name Flourishing flora.
I'd recommend it if you're going trekking - treks arranged by Adventure Nation start and finish nearby, and you can store your suitcases here while on the trek. I suggest booking on their own website - no reason for other websites to take their percentage.
Note: when getting a fixed price taxi from Kangra airport, make sure the ticket doesn't just say Mcleodganj - they'll drop you at the town square, and it's 1km uphill from there. "Flourishing flora" is the name most people recognise. When we arrived, the traffic was terrible - we could not have squeezed through with our suitcases on foot, and had to pay the taxi 40% extra. You can, though, ask if they're able to pick you up from the airport, which would avoid such problems,
