We stayed during November 2016. The rooms we got both had an awesome view of the mountains. The restaurant at the hotel was a special charm and we all loved the food there. Two lovely ladies managing the restaurant and the hotel were very welcoming and courteous. This hotel is located just a minute's walk from the main square. We totally recommend this hotel to anyone visiting McLeodganj.

Receptionist chicky is full of life- service is fast and food in the restaurant is a good standard. I stayed in a decent room with bathroom and private balcony and view over the town and valley for 1200 rupees a night (during deevali). Chicky provided helpful tips and advice. A wooden box on the reception desk reads 'tips for sexy people' lol

Locating this hotel was easy as people seemed to know about it. It may be famous for its café rather than the rooms. When we arrived at the hotel, I could not believe my eyes that I had got tricked into booking such a hideous hotel. The approach to the rooms was almost like being taken into some cheap lodge. The outer appearance, the corridors, the doors, everything was so cheap. I almost made up my mind to run away. But when we got into the room, things changed dramatically. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was great. The bathroom was also good. Nothing was cheap looking inside the room. The balcony again was horrible. But we avoided going there. There was no ceiling fan or AC. Just was a small tiny wall fan in one corner. But the weather was good. So it didn’t matter. We ended up having a great stay. Food at the café is great. Don’t miss it. This hotel is very close to the shopping area. Staff was also helpful. Overall, good value for money.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in March 2016 and absolutely loved it! The rooms are very comfortable with 24 hours running hot water and electricity. They also include a T.V, free wi-fi and a balcony with breathtaking views. My favourite part of this hotel was the restaurant. Absolutely beautiful restaurant layout/environment, with an inside area and outside area. The menu has an extensive list of food choices, including vegan and vegetarian options - they even have soya milk!! I could have happily eaten there every single day. The hotel owners are a lovely tibetan couple, who are warm, kind and very welcoming. If you want a hotel with nice rooms, a fab restaurant, lovely views and for great value, then this is the hotel for you!

We had a great stay at Green Hotel. We were there for 8 nights and we didn't want to leave. It was the perfect location for a stay in the area. The hotel is easy to get to and not with some difficult mountain side entrance as many of the hotels in the area . It on a easy street to navigate and centrally located. We could not have been happier.
What made the stay absolutely special is the young woman who manages the place. She is overseeing everything from the morning til the night making sure you have everything you want or need. Also through her we knew what what going on in the Tibetan community which allowed us to take part in celebrations we might have missed otherwise. We spent lots of time as did most of the guests hanging out in the main reception/restaurant area or on the terrace. The hotel has rooms of various prices with different accommodations. We were in the most inexpensive rooms and we were perfectly happy. We loved the monkeys running across the balconies in the morning and seeing the sunrise over the mountains.

Nice and clean, good location, friendly staff, good organic restaurant, private bath, hot shower. Wi fi works only in the restaurant, no in-room wi fi. Patio has a very nice view. The restaurant is a local hub and is always busy with people who are not hotel guests.

I spent two nights here and most of the rest of my week in McLeod Ganj in their restaurant. I left their hotel because my friend had left and I couldn't afford their room alone (backpacking).
I had a clean room with TV. Nice, hot shower which never failed. Beautiful view off of the private balcony. Price is right for what they offer. Only frustrating thing was that my room was close to the main street, which can be quite noisy throughout the day.
One note, make sure to lock your doors and windows. Monkeys are looking for ways to break into your room and go through all your stuff. It's not an exciting experience.

Love the restaurant. I ate breakfast there almost every night and some lunch/dinners. Good diversity of food. Love the patio. I especially enjoy the couches inside for drinking coffee and reading my book.

I'd stay here again.

This hotel in the Dalai Lama's town is a gem. Very clean rooms, balconies with a beautiful view of the Himalayas and the adjacent green restaurant is one of the best in town! They serve a nice range of veg and non veg items, and really good coffee!
Stay here, you won't be disappointed!

McLeod has more to do and more restaurants and places to stay than Dharamsala. It's livelier and, I think, more interesting. That said, however, it's also more touristy. So, depending on what you like.... Green Hotel doesn't have a parking lot but I think there were some cars parked on the road. However, the streets are rather narrow and full of cars and people. You might ask the hotel about parking.
