I called this hotel as i wanted to check its location. Some lady picked up and without knowing why i called she said "we dont take bookings oh phone ok, go to bookig.com'". And that lady was exrremely rude. Seems like good online rating got into her head...Then she hung up. Shows the quality of staff and vibe this hotel must be having. The warm lobby of Green Hotel was one of the nicest parts of my trip to McLeod. The furniture is comfortable and too close together, making it difficult not to talk to or overhear the other travelers. The people I met were from Europe and the US mostly, or Israelis traveling in groups. They were backpacking or doing meditation and yoga in town. There are books and newspapers you can borrow. Their teas are good and large. The background noise was busy and pleasant. Some people would sit for hours inside the lobby or outside on the veranda. Outside I saw monkeys and cats on the roofs of the adjacent buildings. This is the kind of hotel you could spend a lot of time working or reading.

Very comfortable stay, clean and maintained rooms. And for people who are finicky about washrooms like me should not worry abt it as they are very well kept. Cafe in the hotel is a calm place to hang out with too with good food.

We had a surprisingly lovely 10-day stay at the Hotel Green/Namgyal (name seems to be interchangeable). We landed in a 1,500Rs room because it was what was available, and intended to change later, but never did because our room was so comfortable! Soft bed with clean sheets and thick comforters, a spacious and *clean* bathroom (soap, towels, and tp provided), good light, quiet (!) and a pleasant area to step out the door to. The bathroom did smell (like the plumbing), and windows once opened were hard to close. You're still in India! It's just easy to forget that here. We did get to look at an 800Rs room at one point, and it seemed similarly well kept, just smaller and closer to the street. The highlight of this place, though, is the kind staff. Fun and informal hotel with a very diverse audience ranging from Tibetan monks to young people from all over the world. Pleasant central resto/bar with good food. The female hotel managers were very helpful. The rooms are basic, but all is present. Only downside: really noisy nights.

Stayed here on a recent trip to McLeod Ganj.. functional and clean. Good view and enjoyed the balcony. Ac worked. Tibetan staff were very good, good value and they tried hard, I would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here in late January and had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Chuki. The view from the room is nice. Overall I would say it is good value for money. It's a good place to stay if you want to explore McLeodganj and the surrounding areas like Bhagsu

Stayed here for 2 nights, very comfortable bed and large soft pillows. Clean, plenty of piping hot water in shower and little balcony with view of the valley. Would definitely recommend the food, lots of choice and comfortable areas to eat in.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The managers are incredibly helpful, generous, and kind. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and mine had a balcony with a stunning view (keep your door closed, monkeys frequent the balconies)...the location is central, their cafe has a good variety of food options and is a very relaxing place to hang out and socialize....patio space is large with 'that view'. Wifi a bit spotty but otherwise, pretty much perfect...an easy spot to let time drift by. Great value!

This is a very popular place with a variety of rooms and a balcony to eat the great food offered here. I've stayed at different times and it's always been a good experience. Many of the rooms have great views of the mountain. The staff is always helpful.
