We stayed in a comfort room as we were travelling with dogs and were pleased to be given a ground floor room with a small veranda. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a well equipped bathroom and separate shower. I missed having a bathrobe available, as it's not the sort of thing you pack unless you're staying for a week or so. We struggled to order food in English from the app. Breakfast was excellent.

This was our first stay ever at a vd Valk hotel and I start with the positive things. 1) Staff at the lobby and the breakfast very friendly and helpfull. 2) When we arrived we got an other room after a complaint without any problem. What disappointed us strongly were the following. 1) We got a room where the carpet all over had black smudges which looked really dirty. 2) The bed in the new room was on the side facing to step out like a slide at a holiday park. It was worn out by the" heavy weights" over time and never repalced. I fixed this problem temporarely myself by turning the very thick second mattrass over. 3) My wife and I were not able to watch our own old digitized pictures and short video's (TV has an USB port) because the television terminated everything in such that we even could not watch TV at all. Watching only TV was restored by a very helpfull staff member. 4) Between my bed and the wall were a lot of big and thick parts of clocked together dust. (see pictures) These rooms stay very dark even with all "lights"turned on and by accident I noticed this because I used my flashlight in the night. 5) Vd Valk send us by e-mail a voucher for a welcome drink which did not specify any period of validity. When were thirsty the last day we decided to use it and went to the lobby and showed this voucher and the answer was that it was only valid on arrival. When I told the lady that this voucher did not mentioned anything about it she then told us to get a cup of coffee where we just had breakfast 1 hour before. This first acquaintance (in Dutch kennismaking?) with vd Valk hotels was ice cold and for us never more. So to say, our first and last.

We had a beautiful room looking into the back garden. Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety. The grounds are amazing with a lovely fountain and walking paths. Great hiking close by. The Main Street is around the corner with nice restaurants and cafes.

They organize weddings at this hotel and don't even let you know in advance for you to decide if you want to come or choose another hotel. And their happy to give you a premium rate room facing the wedding party into the dawn with drunk people screaming and making noise just outside your window. Poor performance by a premium hotel, seek alternatives.

This is a great hotel for a short getaway when you live in Netherlands, Germany or Belgium. The hotel is situated in an old mansion and the room are modern, clean and spacious. The restaurant in the hotel is ok ( not great), however their outdoor seating and the friendly staff make a positieve difference. I have stayed here a few times and wil come back. It is one of the nicer hotels in an area where there is so much to do.

We had the so called “tower room suite”. This room had it all. Space, luxury, excellent bed and a beautiful view overlooking the garden. Since it is Corona we had to take our meals in our room. The meals are above avarice and beauty fully served. Great value for money.

Following the "Historical city walk" route we came accross this beautiful building. It was a castle and now is a hotel. We didn't know that the park of this castle is open for the public. So just took some pictures and left.

We stayed here two nights. Since we altered our reservation we ended up in a differtent room each night. We new that in advance so no problem there. First room (112) was on the ground floor (more or less because you go down the stairs). The room was modern with everything you need in a hotel room. We enjoyed the fact that the toilet was separate from the bath/shower, but I will get back to that later. The bed was a little hard but not too bad. What I did not like was the fact we only had two large towels and two small ones. This should be altered. The second night we stayed in a so called 'Castle Room' (No. 18) on the top floor. The view from this room was great and the bed was amazing. On the down side: again only two large towels of which one was dirty. While taking a bath I noticed that under the radiator dust has been collected for at least two years. The toilet and shower are in the same space. So, when one person is taking a shower nobody can use the toilet (unless you are very comfortable around eachother). The staff is friendly and helpfull. We did not use the restaurant. There are very good dinner options in the neighbouhoodand for breakfast you walk 5min and have at least 3 backery's to choose from. Here you pay about €6 p.p. instead of €20 p.p. at the hotel

This Castle hotel, located strangly in the middle of a suburban area, offers a nice look in the past. Even though the main building has been kept in its original state, with only a few functional changes, the modernly renovated rooms offer a little luxury tucked away on the ground floor. The hotel has a nice terrace, with friendly staff members. We opted for a multi course dinner with wine pairing and were pleasantly surprised by both the quality of food as the friendliness of staff members.

Nice hotel, reasonably priced, nice surroundings. Nice, clean rooms, friendly staff. Price of Corona styled Breakfast is a little steep, 17.5 euro pp for yoghurt, cup of fruit, not so fresh, orange juice, coffee, not so warm, cold cuts, not so fresh, bag of assorted bread rolls, bowl of condiments. Possibility to order eggs, omelet, with bacon. They should probably lower their prices for that. 10-12 euro would be ok. Coffee should be a little bit warmer. Maybe that is the trick to make sure people leave within 30 min.
