This place is a gem. Extremely comfortable rooms, large and lovely building and gardens, very good public areas. The food is good, too, and reasonably priced. Palma del Rio itself is just a bustling little town, but it's pleasant enough - but there's no real reason to leave the monastery. Book on the hotel's site rather than via an online...

This is worth the visit, they do not charge an entrance fee (all other cathedrals and basilicas do). It has a museum next door to it and a cute cafe/gift shop right down the steps. There is construction around it, but go in and check it out!

The hotel is well situated in the small town of Palma del Rio, which is a very handy base for touring the area and within a couple of hour of Seville and Cordoba. Although really an ancient monument, the hotel retains its original design and charm, whilst providing modern bedrooms, with comfortable beds, spacious quiet rooms, and fully modernised en...

Stayed her with my wife on the way back from Extremadure to Malaga airport. The is a wonderfully authentic resatored 15th century monastery turned into an outstanding hotel but kept authentic at the same time. The restaurant has desrevedly won several awards. We had 2 of the best steaks ever . The most expensive wine on the list is still...

We traveled to this charming hotel for a friend's wedding. Palma del Río is a small town approximately 1 hour from Sevilla. It is a small town, but rich with history and close proximity to Sevilla and Córdoba. The highest rating hotel in Palma is 3 stars and the bride recommended Monasterio or Hotel Castillo. We chose Monasterio due to...

We stayed here two nights on a cycling tour. Palma del Rio is a small town in a farming region, and not much to do in the town. But the Monasterio is a good place to stay in converted monastery. We had a very large room (9) - an old monks cell - with a bathroom that was larger than...

We stayed at this hotel on our bike tour and we were given one of the worst rooms in the hotel (we saw photos of other people's rooms which looked much nicer). The bed sagged in the middle, pillows were frayed with no pillowcases and the showers curtain was a wisp of plastic. Yuck! To give this hotel 3 stars...

This hotel is a restored/converted 15th monistary. The rooms are the converted monks cells. Very roomy. Furnishings are simple which just adds to the ambiance. Authentic antiques line the halls. Bells ring every 15min during the day but go quiet at night. A unique place to stay.

Monasteries de San Francisco was the most perfect place to stay after the madness of Christmas and the New Year. Absolute tranquility in a fascinating and exquisitely beautiful hotel. Sadly, I was only there for four days on business but I fully intend coming back as soon as I can. A good place to recharge your batteries. Very sorry to...
