The hotel is located just on the edge of town. The location suited us perfectly for a short two night stay in a cottage suite with a balcony overlooking the water! We enjoyed cocktails and morning coffee on the cottage balcony.

Friendly Helpful staffs helped us with an early check in and welcome drink which chose to be an ice cold beer. The room was quiet, spacious, comfortable and clean – The Wi-Fi connection was unfortunately very weak to basically nil in the room.

The resort offered their Tuk Tuk to drive us to and pick us up at local restaurants and spas – Cheaper than a regular local Tuk Tuk and no need for negotiation or overcharging issues that tend to plague Tuk Tuk users.

We did not eat at the hotel restaurant except for the complimentary morning breakfasts – The hotel restaurants limited dinner menu was expensive and offered mostly an expensive & short set menu – The local restaurants we availed were a tenth of the price and offered local tasty fare and a chance to interact with the local culture & cuisine!

We used the hotel Tuk Tuk to visit Frangipani Spa one afternoon for a fantastic Massage by friendly local gals – We chose an outside spa mainly due to the person running the Hotel Spa being quite unfriendly and the spa being somewhat expensive to boot.

The pool looks appealing from both the web site and on arrival – While we were originally attracted to the hotel for having a pool, it is impossible to swim in and only suitable to get wet. The weeds under the pool liner have pushed the bottom of the pool to within inches of the top – walking on the liner would push the liner & weeds down temporarily.

There is also a nice sun deck and covered relaxing area by the pool. We hope the hotel has a future plan in place to make the pool useable!

Overall we had an enjoyable stay enhanced by some awesome staffs who were more than willing to assist and were always jovial and pleasant – We wish we had been able to stay longer. Thank You everyone!

We had one of the bungalows which are so prettily situated around the lake with fairy lights on the walkways at night. The bungalow consisted of an entrance lobby, lounge area, bedroom with a large kingsize bed, bathroom and a large veranda overlooking the lake. It was very comfortable with a range of eco friendly toiletries. There was an inroom safe which is always useful and robes.
We went for a swim in the beautifully situated and very unusual floating pool. It was a really odd sensation to put your feet on the bottom of the pool and for it to give rather than be firm.
Breakfast was a mixed Shan and western affair served to your table which was very pleasant and made a change from the buffet breakfasts in most hotels.
The hotel is situated at the end of the main street in the village next to the canal which the boats go down to Inlay Lake. It's an easy walk to anywhere in the town and there is a good choice of restaurants mainly along but also just off the main street.
I'd definitely stay here again.

Accommodation is on a lake, so watch out for mosquitoes, never seen so many, all times of day, even inside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, although on the first day they forgot about us and had not prepared any breakfast for us as they were not informed by reception that we had booked in. After a few minutes they did come up with a very mediocre breakfast and realised that it feel short and then spent the next few days making it up to us with exceptional service from the restaurant manager.

They also forgot to make our room up on the first day, so we had to remind them.

Didn't eat in the hotel as the food on offer was expensive, and not at all to our taste. Did have drinks in the hotel bar, which were very nice and the barman was very friendly.

Lots of places within a very short walk to eat and drink.

No fridge in the room, but they did provide one when asked and at no extra charge.

The swimming pool in my opinion was unusable, as it was an inflated pool which had a little too much movement on it for me to chance standing on the edge. Also there were just ordinary chairs to sit on and it was obviously an afterthought.

I have visited Inle Lake 5 times now but this is the first time I have stayed in Nyaung Shwe . The hotel couldn't be better placed, with easy access to the main street and right next to the boat jetty. An early morning walk along the river provided lots of opportunities to chat to local people and watch the tomatoes arriving by boat from the floating gardens on the lake.
The hotel staff were very welcoming and there was definitely a family feel about the place. As advertised, the hotel works hard at maintaining eco friendly standards without diminishing the quality of quantity of facilities in the room.
Each bungalow has a balcony looking out into a very peaceful pond space which attracts birds common at Inle Lake.
The breakfast is excellent and the menu available in the evening provides a reasonable variety of food.
The small floating swimming pool was unfortunately not available during our stay but it is certainly a unique feature of the hotel and perhaps a reason to return and experience.

We toyed between choosing one of the 5* resort hotels around the lake and Viewpoint and were go glad we settled on this. The service was second to. One, rooms excellent and food was the best we have had in Myanmar. Try the 7 Shan tapas plate! The hotel had its own boat and tuk tuk drivers which were only fractionally more expensive than using the ones on the street and afar less hassle. The big plus is that we could sit on the shady, bougainvillea framed veranda and watch local life go by, lounge by pool area or visit the in house spa when we needed r & r but as we were right at the edge of town we could step into another world of street life, markets, temples etc and eat in town. It was lovely to have the choice to do both which we would not have got in the more sanitised ‘resort hotels’. As well as the must do day trip around the lake looking at lake life, one-legged fisherman and slightly too many craftsman at work and then selling their wares, we arranged a tuk tuk to take us up to a temple on the hill passing through rural life which we enjoyed.

Will definitely be recommending viewpoint to friends and family

Second visit to this ecolodge
Always a pleasure
including this time the discovery of a floating pool in a superb corner ...

These people know how to welcome you and make you feel immediately at home
Rooms are actually real suite with huge and comfortable beds
Well .. everything you could need including local and ecofriendly products in the bathroom

We tried the spa : a must too !

Breakfasts are just a bliss, mixing shan and western
Brought to you in style !

Then we hired boat trip, wineyard trip and many others ...
Always high ranking service uncommon in this country at very reasonable price.

To sum up : I want to say thank you to this great team and I just hope I can come back again !

My stepmom and I had a wonderful stay at this artfully decorated hotel over NYE. Great service and excellent meals in the restaurant. We enjoyed a fancy NYE dinner with do-it-yourself skewers at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the Shan appetizers and yummy desserts. Rooms were very comfortable - comfy beds, hot shower. I liked how their bathroom display highlighted local beauty traditions. I tried the spa and had a quality massage, my only critique is that they don't play music and there was a very loud guest right outside my massage room. Would definitely stay here again!

Viewpoint Ecolodge is truly a luxurious stay in Nyaung Shwe. We were kindly upgraded to an even better room than the one originally booked, and the amenities and facilities were truly outstanding. The breakfast was also very generous ( perhaps a bit too generous/wasteful) and the floating pool was a great addition to the serene atmosphere of the resort. The resort was able to arrange a great day trip on the lake, which we all enjoyed. They also arranged a trip to a few neighbouring villages and attractions, which didn’t go so well, due to the driver not having a clue where he’s going. This was something that I believe the hotel staff figured out, because we were not spoken to upon our arrival from the trip, which was uncharacteristic to the otherwise friendly and chatty hotel staff. Overall a great stay!

An excellent two night stay at this hotel. The rooms are incredible with lots of attention to detail, the staff are some of the friendliest going and the food (try to have dinner there) was amazing- you are treated like royalty at breakfast. Highly recommend, thank you for a lovely stay

After a full day of travelling, that started at 8 in the morning from Bagan we found ourselves in the town of Nyaung Shwe – The Gateway to Inle Lake at 5 in the evening. We were soon picked up and ferried to ViewPoint Eco Lodge, which was going to be our home for the next two days, during our Epic 7 Day Myanmar Road Trip.

The very fact that we were welcomed with a nice refreshing drink, a warm scented towel, to freshen up our faces, followed by a glass of chilled white wine, gave us a glimpse that, it’s going to be a delight to be  spending the first few nights of 2020, in the lap of luxury, and being pampered by the hospitable staff here.

As we were escorted to our room, we passed by the bar, the SPA, and soon reached a fork, which is when we realized that all the 21 rooms at ViewPoint Eco Lodge are Water Villas, built on stilts in a private lagoon, like you find in the Maldives,  tucked in between streets on all the 4 sides.

Only eco friendly and sustainable products have been used in the construction of the entire complex at ViewPoint Eco Lodge, and following sustainable practices on a day to day basis, is something which is the norm here. And guess what, there was a Swimming Pool, and that too a floating one at ViewPoint Eco Lodge.

ViewPoint Eco Lodge, is undoubtedly one of the best places, where you can experience Luxurious Travel in a Sustainable way. No wonder ViewPoint Eco Lodge has won the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2016 for Luxury Lodge and has also been awarded the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard.

You can reach the town of Nyaung Shwe from either Yangon or Bagan by taking an overnight VIP semi sleeper bus.

OR you can choose to Fly in !

The nearest Airport is Heho airport and is a 40 minute drive from ViewPoint Eco Lodge.

Without a doubt, a stay at the ViewPoint Eco Lodge in Nyaung Shwe in Myanmar is highly recommended, if you are looking for some really unique and memorable experiences.

I think you would need 2 units. One unit has ample space for a couple but with the addition of another adult and a child , the space would be cramped. ( depends on age of child/ cot needed?). Large bathroom but a shower not a bath. I booked tours independently and not from hotel. The boats leave directly from the hotel which is very handy .
