My husband and I had a great one-night stay during our honeymoon. Merlischachen is a pretty small town about 15 minutes from Lucerne by train. The hotel has several buildings on the main road but we stayed in the Swiss Chalet. The building was from the 18th century and the hotel kept the historic decor. We had to climb some...

We stayed in the "hunting themed" lodge for 3 nights with a lake view. Very pleasant, clean, and well appointed/decorated. The bed was quite firm but had nice bed linens. Couple of areas for improvement would be the breakfast selections. While adequate, not as nice as other comparable hotels. The water temp in the shower can fluctuate extremely--- from scalding...

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days and found it just amazing. As you can see the facade of the hotel is amazing, all decorated with flowers.Breakfast is served free and is really good. Commuting to Luzern from here is also quite easy. At night musicians keep playing music and it just adds to the aura.

We had booked a family room in the Swiss Chalet with shared bathroom. On arrrival, we were upgraded to a self contained aprtment behind the Swiss Chalet main building. A great place to stay if you are wanting something outside of the city....( It's only ten minutes away from Lucern by car or train). Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Typically Swiss The quaint Swiss-Chalet Bed & Breakfast, a wooden house built in the 17th century in a typical Swiss farmhouse style, offers a special atmosphere. Low ceilings, a lot of wood and creaky beams are an experience which you otherwise find in the lofty heights of the mountains. We offer you free parking spaces at the large parking area on the opposite side of the street. Both restaurant and bar are located in the same building. There we serve as well the breakfast from 06.00 – 10.00 o’clock. Check-in & Check out will be in the Schloss-Hotel. ... more   less
