We stayed on the second night of our hiking tour and were so grateful to see this oasis after a tough day of hiking in a downpour. I don't know how they arranged it, but the clouds broke and we were able to spend a lovely fall afternoon by the pool surrounded by glorious mountain views. The accommodations were very comfortable and meals just right, Our hosts were so engaging and wish we could have stayed longer,

In short: I can't rate this place high enough: location, housing, staff & food all wonderful. Background: My wife, my daughter of 1 year and I stayed here for 3 weeks in May 2019. Location: - Superb panoramic view right in front of your house! This was actually the reason we booked here. - Major cultural sites nearby for a day trip: Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Carrara - The start of a plethora of hiking trips to nearby hill-tops, medieval villages, ... - 7/7 hypermarket within 15min drive - a real asset in the mountainous Garfagnana region! Housing: - Very clean - Spacious: the 2-person appartment we stayed in (one of several) was perfectly suited for families, with a wide open area for the kids to play - Quiet: all appartments also have a private garden area with chairs & table (1 has a balcony) - The fireplace does a nice job of heating (we stayed out of season) Staff: - Silvia, her sister Linda and other family members made us feel like special family guests rather than customers. They would be our main reason for coming back, together with the magnificent views & food. Food: - The dinners are great value for money: every day we would look forward to a 4-5 course meal, every dish a treat (advice: let the staff surprise you with the chef's inspiration of the day). We were actually planning to cook ourselves, as the appartment kitchen was perfectly equipped, but quickly abandoned this idea. Accomodations: - Beautiful spatious grass areas: really well taken care of, tastefully arranged, with lush areas of shade in summer & safe for children - Children's playground (fenced) - Nice swimming pool - Free Wifi: Most of the area has got decent enough Wifi (not top quality, but enough for even video streaming). In the most remote house, we used our own Wifi receiver near the window and still had enough reception for proper streaming. - Free parking

Our stay here was planned as part of a self-guided walking tour and we were treated very well here after a long day's walk. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the meals (breakfast and dinner) were delicious. The area around Summer offers great walks either into the sleepy town of Verni or up above the agriturismo on a ridge overlooking the area.

This agriturismo is even better than the photos show! We spent a week here with our 1-year old son and we loved it. The location is stunning and the views from the agriturismo are beautiful, especially late in the afternoon. The beds are comfortable, the shower is good and the apartment itself is basic but it has all you need! There is a lot of space outside which was great for our son because he could play in the grass just anywhere. We highly recommend the restaurant: we never had such a great dinner before with these amazing views over the mountains. The location of this agriturismo is great: it's a little isolated (which is just what we were looking for) but at the heart of the Garfagnana area, so a perfect base to explore the Garfagnana and the mountains. This is definitely one of the most beautiful parts of Italy. It was everything we could wish for! A big thanks to the owners, they are lovely and warm-hearted people who made us feel at home right away and they were always in for a little chat.

What a nice place to stay. It's beautiful, the people are so nice and the food is amazing (made from fresh vegetables from the garden). The little stone houses are lovely. I would love to come back. Perfect for relaxing.

We stayed for a week with two children aged 5 and 2 years old. We loved the swimming pool, the table football table, the swings and slide, the football pitch (footballs supplied) and the ping pong table. Silvia and Manuel were really welcoming and kind, and the restaurant is busy with locals and child friendly. The views are incredible and it looks like something you see on a postcard. We stayed in the little 2 bed cottage by the pool. Silvia had provided a travel cot with mattress which was great and both children slept very well. We took a duvet cover and pillowcase for both kids from home- the little one used it but the older one didn't and preferred the blankets provided. You need to take washing up liquid and laundry liquid, pot towels, bin bags but there is a travel kettle and hairdryer supplied. There is a loo roll provided but after that you need to provide your own. They have towels supplied but you might want to take beach towels. The pool is cool but very nice- bit cool for the kiddies still so we took a paddling pool and left it there. There is a Conad supermarket in Gallicano which stocks most things- including baby stuff like pottys, milk, nappies, wipes but no nappy sacks that I could find. The shop opposite Conad has an amazing array of inflatables and water pistols and balls etc. We had a bit of a nightmare on the journey there- not a problem if you have satnav, but if not, drive in the direction of Viarreggio as you leave Pisa airport- ignore the sign to Lucca. Entirely my fault/long day/no proper map.... Be prepared for a long wait for a car rental- it was mayhem.... I put a couple of packed lunches in for the kids which helped at that point. The last bit of driving between Gallicano, through Verni and to the Agriturismo is a single lane road with passing places- worth knowing if you're getting there in the dark.... Nice meal at Cafe Capretz in Barga, a quick lunch at Bar Alpina in Barga all nice and very reasonable (1 euro focaccias at Bar Alpina). We also ate in the nearby fancy-pants Il Ciocco- expensive but great burgers and farfalle... We would definitely go back- we were there during the European storms and unfortunately (and unusually) it was a bit wet. OK a lot wet. So we'd love to come back again another time and see the sunshine!

Wow, that had been 2 outstanding weeks in your Summer. The parents and the 2 kids (1 & 2 years old) loved that place. Playground was next to where we stayed, the pool was great and always clean early in the morning. The view is outstanding from the restaurant, and at least what Silvia creates and his husband crops from his garden has been so delicious. Thanks a lot for all we got. WE're looking forward visitiing this fantastic place & landlords again.

We're here for the third time and we absolutely love it. Sylvia and Manuel are very kind and make you feel very welcome. We area family of four and come here to get away from the stress at home. Even the kids seem to enjoy the low key atmosphere. When you leave Summer after 5-6 days you actually feel like you don't need a vacation when you come home. Not many places offer that anymore. Everything is simple here. Leave your expectations of how you think it should be at home and let Silvia and Manuel introduce you to the Toscany way of life. You don't get more authentic than this! We highly recommend this place for any who need a break from the busy life at home.

This was our second visit to agriturismo summer. 2 years ago it was just us two, this time we had our 12 month old daughter with us. Like the previous visit we stayed for a week, to relax, enjoy the weather, food and stunning surroundings of the in forest covered hilly/mountain area in with this small resort is located. Although there's a lot to see in close vicinity (nature reserve, medieval villages, grottoes and cities like Lucca) we chose to relax, read books, dive in the pool once in a while and play with our daughter. The great thing about this place is the layout. Even though all 5 cottages were occupied, one can always find a secluded spot on on of the many gras terraces surrounding the pool, picknick area or the main building where the restaurant and common living room were located. It was never crowded around the pool and many times we even alone during large parts of the day. Another thing we enjoyed was the vegetable garden and the many different fruit trees and berry bushes. Silvia, the always friendly, (English speaking) and energetic hostess, uses the fresh vegetables to make diner every evening and guest are free to pick and use the fruits and vegetables as well. All cottages are equipped with a kitchen and stationary and some of the other guests would cook diner themselves in the evening. We chose to eat out at Silvia's every evening. It's good Italian food (pizza's, pasta's etc) and so affordable (€13,- pp including drinks) you almost can't make dinner yourselves for that amount of money. Breakfast comes at €3,- pp and is ok. It consist of bread, homemade jams and a assortment of different cakes, croissants and toasts. The breakfast is not fresh but it fulfilled our needs. One evening we used the outdoor grill, where we successfully grilled vegetables and some very juicy steaks, bought at the local butcher in a nearby village (recommended). As for children this place is perfect for small children, up to around 8/9 I would say. You can spend a lot of time exploring nature, swimming, playing games in the grass (there is also a small soccer field) and watching the stars in the evening. Our daughter enjoyed the little inflatable pool we brought with us and she slept very good during the day inside the cool cottage. Older children, might get bored without any other children to play with. The cottages are small, but cosy, and are equipped with a bedroom with a decent bed, kitchen/living room with satellite TV and a bathroom and shower. Some have a balcony and some are larger than others. All in all we had, again, a wonderful time and really got to charge out battery. I would recommend this place to friends. June and mid August are probably the best periods to visit. We stayed in July, which was quite hot and there were some annoying mosquitoes, although according to Silvia this was unusual and due to the abnormal temperature and humidity they were experiencing this summer.
