Nestled in vast, peaceful grounds, the Vale Resort offers a serene location deemed idyllic by many guests, though it's not without its critiques of isolation. While some travelers commend the spacious rooms with scenic views, there are conflicting reports regarding cleanliness and dated decor.
The resort's service and amenities receive varied feedback, with shining moments of attentive staff juxtaposed with disorganized service and calls for spa and gym updates. Despite instances of noise disruptions, many find the overall cleanliness commendable, though opinions on value and atmosphere are mixed, reflecting a balance of vibrant events and areas needing a touch more ambiance.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel stay with a spa visit which included an hour treatment, use of spa facilities, overnight room and buffet breakfast. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as we were early for our check in but was able to leave our luggage in reception and freely use the spa. The spa staff were also welcoming and friendly. The spa has excellent facilities with five different relaxation rooms, a pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool. Our room was on the ground floor and was very big with a large en-suite which had a bath and separate shower. Contenential buffet breakfast was good with hot and cold choices of which the hot foods were made fresh. The stay was made even better sitting opposite Ryan Giggs and co for breakfast and meeting the Wales national football team. A negative for the spa break is that we were not given a time of treatment until arrival.

We booked a Signature Spa Break at The Vale Resort, which meant we had a buffet lunch, 55min treatment, use of spa facilities, overnight break and breakfast included. We arrived at 11.30 and checked our bags in. The receptionist was lovely and very welcoming. We then proceeded to the spa where they gave us a tour around and then brought us back to the cafe to have our lunch. There was plenty of food on offer (though make sure you check the allergens board carefully - my boyfriend is vegetarian and chose the couscous thinking it would be vegetarian but it contained chicken!). After our lunch, we went to have our treatments : restoration wave massage for me and Swedish massage for my boyfriend. I loved my massage, although sometimes the pressure can be too intense but I prefer softer massages usually. The spa has excellent facilities with five different relaxation rooms and then access to the pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool below. There were plenty of loungers around the pool and upstairs so there was no need to hover and wait for somebody to leave. It was very laid back and I never felt rushed.
Our room was located on the second floor and we were surprised to find we had a balcony! The room was huge and the bathroom too, which had a bath and separate shower. Bed was very comfortable with plenty of room for two.
We decided to have dinner in the Vale Grill. The meals were expensive but tasted amazing. I had the monkfish and squid ink tagliatelle and my boyfriend had the gnocchi, and we had a dessert sharing platter to end.
Overall, I was very impressed with my stay and will be leaving relaxed and satisfied. Thank you to all the staff at The Vale Resort who made our stay so memorable.

Myself and my wife stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary but were told on arrival that the resort restaurant was fully booked for that evening. I would advise booking the restraint prior to your stay here. If the demand is more than they can cater for then there will always be disappointed guests. We have dined at the restaurant before and the food is excellent.
We had to settle for a bar meal, steak for myself and the wife ordered the burger meal, both meals were served cold. When I raised the issue, the staff were apologetic and replaced the meals along with a free drink for the inconvenience, but just the act of having to complain is off putting.
The other issue we had was the room was so cold, the heating was turned to it’s maximum but there was so much wind coming through the windows that is was impossible to keep the room warm. I should add it was an extremely windy night, but you would expect double glazed windows to cope.
Overall the stay was very disappointing and I will review other hotels before I book again.

Been a gym.member for over a year now and the hygiene standards have gone downhill rapidly lately. For 65 pounds a month it is unacceptable.
1. You need more visible signs asking users to wipe machines down after use. Ever since I have joined I never see anyone bothering to wipe the machines. Working out on a bike etc with handles dripping in someone else's sweat is not pleasant!
2. The paper towels and wet towels are not replenished enough. Regularly recently the wet towel dispenser in particular is empty. Members of staff should be keeping an eye on this through the day and evening? There should be a bin under each dispenser too not ad hoc.
With the virus taking hold this place is clearly going to be a Hot bed of even more germs!
3. A paper towel was left by the side of a machine for three days. I avoided the machine on the first day I saw it and it was still there three days later?
4. Some of the machines have no TV signal. Again for a four star and the amount of membership I would expect this to be something regulated. Your wifi is weak too as I'm unable to use my music regularly.
5. I am also surprised to have to look at the massive damp patch on the ceiling as I work out. Again would expect this at the local pool not a four star resort.
I hope my feedback is useful

Thank you for your feedback regarding the hygiene standards in the gym. We have 3 prominent signs asking people to wipe the equipment down after use. These are either found next to anti bacterial wipes (3 stations) or hand sanitisers (3 stations around the gym). On top of this, our fitness team clean the equipment several times a day. We do check our stock several times a day but are sure you understand that this could become depleted and require replenishing whilst a member is the team is on the gym floor delivering a programme or induction. We always rely on and appreciate our members letting us know if something is out of stock or not working to capacity so we can get onto it straight away. Our Wi-Fi was boosted recently but if you are having any issues, please let one of us know whilst you are in the club so we can help you rectify the problem straight away. In terms of the damp patch, we do regularly replace our ceiling tiles and will get onto anything that needs changing straight away. Thank you for your feedback. Please speak to any of us in the Club if there is anything else which you feel we could do better.

My partner and I came to the Vale with high hopes and expectations given a few friends’ experiences and having looked through reviews - in hindsight, an air bnb would have been more accommodating.
We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who guided us to where our room was and took our details and set the tone for a wonderful stay. We were asked for any allergies and dietary requirements and awkwardly we have to advise we are Vegan as this would be important come breakfast time. We were advised this wouldn’t be a problem and we had to choose the veggie breakfast ready for the morning with a note to advise staff - you can likely tell what happened in the morning but I had to go elsewhere straight after checking out for suitable food.
I would like to reiterate that the staff were very friendly but also seemed to know be aware when we were asking for alternatives.
The room itself was nice and the bed was huge but there was little in the room to put anything or hang coats from the rain. During lockdown the hotel seemed quiet but our room was opposite the car park where we were woken up early to a pressure washer cleaning outside the the front, thank you for that.
During dinner there were very limited vegan options which is always understandable but the price for what was on offer was ridiculous and unjustifiable - again we had to go elsewhere for food in the night.
After coming back for food we were told that the bar wasn’t open to ordering and that we would be approached for an order to be taken due to COVID. The bar seemed very quiet yet we waited 30 minutes before being offered a drink and by this point, we had a further 20 minutes for last orders.
We were offered free use of the spa for the stay but given everything that had happened already and having felt disregarded on multiple occasions we decided to leave.
My take is that if you’re looking for a clean room, you’ve got your deal but the attentiveness and personality was lost for our stay.

We visited last night for my husbands birthday (06/01/21) I booked here as I wanted to try somewhere different that had been recommended in the past so I did walk in with slightly higher expectations than I probably should have had.. but for a 4 star Golf Resort I’m not sure what else to expect!
I must start with complimenting every staff member we came into contact with, they were very polite and seemingly efficient.
When we first arrived we intended on using the pool, hot tub and steam room straight away so that we could then go on and prepare for our evening later.
In the room we found no dressing gowns which meant we had to change at the pool (changing rooms) along with people using the public gym facilities.
Usually resorts of this calibre supply a dressing gown for guests to manoeuvre around the hotel comfortably.
There is a rule regarding appropriate swimwear at the pool which is not being monitored or enforced, girls wearing unhygienic swimwear prevented us from using any facilities except the pool (I only saw the notice regarding the rule afterwards and it was displayed in a place where people would not see easily).
When we did get back to the room and have a good check we found there to be stains on the carpets and used soap still in the shower!
The sink also blocks after washing hands.
During the night, we discovered that there were air conditioning generators just outside the window which were very loudly running all night and disturbed both of our sleep.
We found a delightful selection of coffee, tea and biscuits etc..however we didn’t find the kettle which was stashed in the drawer in the wardrobe until we were leaving!
We also couldn’t find a room service menu, so I used the menu advertised online for the bar and called through with our order, we was advised of the £5 charge, however the receipt shows different so either the menu online is out of date and they’ve raise the prices or the prices for room service is more than purchasing at the bar. I did not find out which.
The restaurant in the evening was lovely and the staff again were very attentive. We did have to send our steaks back (apologetically)due to both being over cooked however the replacements were perfectly cooked.
None of our complaints were given to the hotel (except the restaurant) as no one asked, even upon leaving, there was 2 receptionists on check out and the brunette was asking all her customers if they enjoyed their stay, however the blonde lady did not ask so I did not offer my opinions.
This was just our account of our visit.
I wouldn’t recommend it to friends and family and I would not pay to visit again.

Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay with us. I am sorry there were elements of your stay that did not meet your expectations, this is certainly not the level of service we strive to offer our guests. We have a sign on poolside which states appropriate swim wear to be worn at all times. This pool area is monitored by CCTV and staff whilst on poolside who will deal with any issues if found rules have been broken. We have 2 poolside showers that are used to shower down between use of areas. Thank you for providing your feedback but would like to reassure you that we take every care in monitoring of all areas of the leisure facilities. On a positive note, I am pleased that you found all staff polite and efficient. Thank you again for taking the time to leave your feedback. All comments have been passed on to the relevant managers and will be used in future training reviews.

We came for the Valentines package with a 3 course meal, chocolates and B & B. Parking was easy, the room was big with a super king bed and brew kit. A good start that was matched throughout. The gym and spa facilities were well equipped with good changing facilities and the staff provided locks, an equipment key and towel. I had an issue with the equipment key not working and the staff were on it in a shot and sorted it. The 3 course meal gave us a very good choice and was delicious. Our 3 courses were really tasty and everything that passed us looked scrumptious. The breakfast was busy but there were no delays in getting a seat or getting the quality buffet options. What made it a better for me was the friendly staff in all areas; reception, gym, restaurant and bar. Really enjoyed the break and will be back.

I Stayed here for one night with the other half, we have stayed here quite a few times previously but I think standards have slipped somewhat. Check in was easy and our room was pleasant on arrival, we were happy to be able to watch sky sports in the room but found the standard of cleaning could be better. There was dirty marks on the gold cushions, the room service menu was covered in previous occupants food! Surely these should be wiped down after each stay, the side of the tv unit had dirty splash marks all up one side and two of the pillow cases were put on inside out for some reason. Not the service you expect for a four star hotel! We did enjoy a very nice bar meal in the evening but found the hotel to have no atmosphere, and after eating returned to our room to watch tv which we could have done at home. I think the piano bar could be turned into a more social bar/sports bar for guests to use and the sports bar area should be turned into a family bar as while we went there for a drink in the afternoon it was over run with children running about and making noise making it hard to have a nice chilled drink watching the sport on the tv, while the piano bar was deserted and didn’t even look open. Walking through the corridor to get to the main rooms a few of the doors were battered and wood bare, not a welcoming look, also witnessed a champagne flute left on a shelf downstairs which I can only assume was from a guest from the previous evening covered in lipstick and not cleared away. The following morning we found breakfast to be the biggest let down, the restaurant was quite busy, but the food was awful! Cold hard bacon and sausages which looked like they had been there for hours, stodgy scrambled eggs, no mushrooms and was told by the chef they had run out, only to see the dish refilled as we were leaving. The toast machine cremated the bread after waiting about 5 mins in the queue to take my turn. This hotel is in a beautiful location and has always impressed us previously hence our numerous return stays, but please give the place a bit of tlc. Repair the doors, improve on breakfast and brush up on the basic cleaning skills so that it deserves its 4* status again! Oh and one more thing, not the hotels fault at all but we were woken at 7.30am but noisy families having conversations in the corridor and kids running about and screaming, no respect for fellow guests who were hoping for a well deserved lie in! C’mon people surely this is common curtesy to try and keep the noise down at that time in the morning!

First of all would like to say the spa here is absolutely beautiful, the staff are very friendly and the Covid precautions in place are exceptional, the massage was one of the best I've had (thank you Beth) and just felt extremely safe in a strange world at the moment. We checked into our room after our spa experience, room was lovely but had to call for housekeeping to separate the beds as a double had been made up not a twin as requested..not the end of the world and quickly sorted..just a niggle. The Lounge bar is unfortunately what lets the resort down...Covid precautions very hit and miss, tables not cleared quickly or sanitised, had to ask for dirty glasses to be removed and request sanitation, service was ridiculously slow, supposed to be table service but due to lengthy waits lots of people including ourselves had to approach the bar to say we'd been waiting 15/20mins to order drinks. Food in the evening in the grill restaurant was lovely, however there was a door to the outside left open for smokers so there was a constant draft smelling of cigarettes. In the evening the lounge bar filled up with a group of men who appeared to be on a golfing weekend, they were extremely drunk so surrounded quite a few already occupied tables with no regard to social distancing and 2 of them were also vapeing, felt very unsafe re Covid so we decided to leave the area and return to our room, did mention concerns to the night manager. One member of staff in the lounge bar complained to us that it was difficult getting used to a new way if working, it really isn't difficult, have enough staff on to ensure people are served and tables are sanitised...maybe also restrict bookings as huge groups of golfers and the spa package meant it felt the bar and restaurant were too busy. Would return but not whilst the pandemic is on going as this this hotel didn't feel safe in the areas mentioned.

We came here as a family for a party, rooms were very underwhelming- old fashioned although the shower room was more modern, bed was comfy but certainly not worth the money. Corridors littered with dirty glasses and room service trays, needs a major refurb. Staff in the bar were clueless one actually asked my sister who ordered a veggie meal if she wanted bacon on the side??! Food for lunch was good but there is something missing , place is tired in places and staff need customer service training.
Table not cleared, didnt bring cutlery not a four star experience just a four star price, our room had a sloping ceiling very dangerous/ my dads partner hit her head badly- informed reception and he said it happens regularly!!!
Would not return- check your bill before leaving my dad had an extra £60 charged from a different room!!
