Lovely pub with helpful staff. Food was locally sourced and was perfectly cooked and served. They also provide accommodation and we would certainly consider staying there, rather than the rather over-hyped Aldeburgh which is around the corner

My wife and I stayed for a night whilst visiting relatives. We were very impressed. The rooms were spacey, comfortable and crammed with interesting knick knacks. A prior engagement sadly prevented us from dining in the restaurant as the menu looked enticing. The Full English was excellent ,majoring on local suppliers. We were made welcome by the friendly staff. We would heartily reccommend...

Popped in for a quick drink on way home from a party,. Lovely friendly atmosphere, relaxing decor and obliging staff. Served a good pint and an excellent choice of gin. Would definitely come back to try the food and spend more time there.

David and I chose from the Prix Fixe menu. This offers a small selection of generous sized portions cooked and presented to a high standard. A large pot of home made chicken liver pate with chutney and soft herring roes served with good seeded toast were an excellent starter and would have provided a light lunch. To follow we both...

The Dolphin serves really good food and the staff are very friendly. On Christmas Eve David the landlord and father Christmas gave presents to all the children and handed round hot chestnuts and mince pies to the adults. The rooms are clean and breakfast was delicious. There are great walks all around the village, a beautiful 64 acre Meare (lake)...

A real fire, a skilled chef, good beer, decent wine, comfortable room and friendly staff made this a great place to spend a few nights in November by the seaside. On the doorstep of a dog friendly beach with walks to Aldeburgh or the impressive sphere at Sizewell. Car free travel possible via taxi or bus from station at Saxmundham

A lovely room with a nice big kettle. The service and hospitality was excellent. The room was perfect and I was impressed with the hot water bottle option (important in January!). The breakfast was also wonderful.

I have known The Dolphin for over fifty years. My family used to visit Thorpeness every summer when I was a child, and we rented a house nearby. The Dolphin was just a pub then. We now live in California, but visit Thorpeness whenever our travels bring us back to England. The Dolphin is a great pub... with excellent food,...
