Phoned to ask if we could view 2 specific rooms,as each room has a "name" and we have these names in our family. Hoping to arrange a surpise party for noctogenarian mother later in the year.told no problem to view the rooms and have a coffee but to call after 3pm. On arrival, the" Receptionist" barely spoke English, and returned to...

Below is the e-mail I wrote to the hotel after our visit, followed by the response. The response, I believe, sums up the attitude of the hotel at this point in time. I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank you for the lovely dinner on Saturday night that was served to us. The rack of lamb was...

We arrived at the reception desk to the sight of guests sprawled across the sofas forking food off plates into their mouths !! The obvious consequences were that the food dropped onto the soft furnishing ready for the next unsuspecting guest to sit on !! And of course the terible smell of food wafted throughout the lounge. We should have...

My husband and I have been visiting Dalmunzie for years during the month of May for a round of golf and lunch. We have certainly seen a decline over the years and especially since under new ownership. I telephoned both the estate and the hotel a day ahead to check that we were OK for a round of golf followed...

I have never written a negative review before. We have been many times over the years to Dalmunzie for lunch sometimes with a game of golf and always been very warmly welcomed and nothing was ever too much trouble . We knew the hotel was under new management as we had met the new owner and his wife on a...

We recently spent 2 nights at Dalmunzie Castle during our first ever trip to Scotland (we're a young couple from South Africa). Coming to Dalmunzie wasn't like going to any hotel, the feeling is a lot more welcoming, homely and comfortable. Having spent only 3 days here you already feel like it's a home away from home (if home was...

A warning to all - this hotel does not value its guests! We felt more like model visitors upon which the 'student' staff could practice. I was not the only one comparing this place to Fawlty Towers - the service was an absolute shambles from start to finish. It seems this hotel is used for training purposes for staff to...

Dalmunzie Castle is supposed to be a luxury hotel, but it is not living up to our expectations. Our room was lovley, light, with beautiful views over the lawn and mountains from every room, furnished with old styled furniture, but still fresh and well cleaned. We where there at Easter, so we had three small Easteregg and one big in...

The castle hotel was wonderful and the estate spectacular. Staff attentive and friendly. The only 'slight' downside the food. Some courses were good and others not so good. So I have to rank the meals as average, but the hotel and location excellent.

We stayed here for one night last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed walking in the grounds and a very tasty five course dining experience. Staff were all relatively new however were all very pleasant and helpful. The room we stayed in was of a good size. Nice areas to sit downstairs in front of the fires and the hotel is dog...
