We booked a two night stay to break our journey home from a week away and were not disappointed. Our room was on the ground floor with views onto the garden and although it was described as disability friendly this did not detract from the charm and comfort of the room. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent as was the wine...

We cannot recommend Cavens too highly. The hotel is very comfortable, the rooms well appointed, the welcome cordial, the service friendly and the food excellent, local produce featuring largely.. The situation is very quiet and this is a great place for a relaxing break.

Our greeting on arrival at Cavens was very friendly and efficient. We were provided with a good description of the hotel and its amenities and the terms of our stay were confirmed at the outset. It was clear at this stage (a view that was substantiated during our stay) that the owners and their staff were determnined to ensure that...

Cavens is a country house and not a typical hotel which is an advantage for a comfortable stay in a relaxed and informal setting. It is run by the owners and is their home, it cannot therefore be perceived in the same way a chain hotel might be. It is better. We had many an enjoyable evening meal as the...

We stayed at Cavens some time ago and wanted a relaxing country break near the sea in september so booked again. Angus and Jane are perfect hosts, lovely room( criffel) with a sitting area and fantastic comfy bed. The garden is lovely to stroll around, in particular we found the small veg garden and hens particularly enjoyable. The weather was...

We just returned from a trip to Scotland. It was a really wonderful trip overall, starting out as a business trip in St. Andrews, and ending with a few personal days. We had booked Cavens through a travel agent, not knowing anything about the property, really. Only that the website was nicely done and the rooms looked beautiful and comfortable....

Booked online but then when I phoned up to make arrangments to check in I was told that they don't usually accept guests unless they're dining there. The booking was a gift for a family member for their wedding night. The owner, who I spoke to said he didn't want to "appear uncharitable" but he wasn't going to honour the...

We did not accept your booking because by your own admission you wanted to arrive late at night after attending a party. The whole ethos at Cavens is one of peace and relaxation. I told you on the phone our last check in time is 10pm you could not gaurantee to meet that and yes as you say I gave...

When we booked at Cavens for the last two nights of a trip around the area, we did think it a bit expensive, but the owner to whom we spoke pointed out that the rate did include dinner, full breakfast and afternoon tea. We were graciously welcomed by the owner himself, given a brief tour, told what we could and...

It gives me great pleasure to remember how perfect the celebration of our wedding was thanks to the Cavens Country House and especially the hospitality of Jane and Angus. Despite planning our entire intimate wedding from Spain, it was very easy to organise and Angus immediately had perfect ideas about the menu and was also very accomodating to any requests...
