We visited last evening for a meal in the restaurant. Spacious dining room, it was nice to find somewhere with ample room instead of cramming too many tables in.
The waiter was very attentive and efficient, excellent service.
All three starters and main courses were absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, hot when they reached the table, generous portions and good value for money. Well done ‘Big Dave’ the chef.
We will definitely recommend the Ken Bridge Restaurant to our holiday cottage guests.
We will be visiting again.....the Ken Bridge will be going on our list of restaurants of choice.

We stayed here while walking the southern upland way and had a great night. The owners were really helpful and picked us up from Darly and dropped us off in the morning and the room was very comfortable. Dinner was superb with a brilliant lamb tagine which really hit the spot after 26 miles walking and all with a lovely friendly atmosphere. The owners were also great about helping us get away early and gave us a huge packed lunch in lieu of breakfast and an early lift to the start point. Can't recommend this enough to anyone doing the southern upland way

Wonderful Georgian hotel with amazing views. I stayed in a kingsize en-suite room, the bed was very comfortable and the room had everything I needed.
The food and drink were all of a food standard, the full Scottish breakfast is excellent!
Hostess Tatiana is wonderful, she’s so friendly and efficient, it really comes across that she enjoys what she does! There is ample parking and perfectly located, 20 min by car from Castle Douglas and Dalry in the opposite direction.

We were looking for a campsite for a couple of nights in our Motorhome to celebrate my birthday, this place looked perfect, riverside pitches/views, fishing for 'other half', public bar and restaurant. We phoned the day before to check it was dog friendly (we travel with our well behaved cocker spaniel), the landlord told us it was, so we booked for 2 nights, and drove 200 miles!! Arriving early evening, landlord showed us to the pitches, we paid and got set up. Wandered into the bar 7ish and ordered drinks and asked about food ordering, told 8pm for food, landlord then shouted across the pub at me "GET THAT DOG OUT NOW!! You can eat here but only outside!! ". Other half went in later to ask for our money back as obviously wouldn't be staying, to find landlord and his DOG (which was behind the bar) he said "my customers don't like dog hair in their food", but it would seem they don't mind it in their drinks!! ...

Six of us stayed here for two nights. Three of us arrived slightly early, and were greeted by a very pleasant lady who was very apologetic that the rooms were not ready yet which was fair enough. The the owner arrived and asked us what we wanted! We just asked if we could leave our luggage somewhere whilst we waited in the bar with a drink whilst the rooms were being prepared. He looked at us as if we were a bit simple and gave us a resounding 'NO'.

So we duly returned later having looked for alternative accommodation which was impossible at this late stage. The rooms were basic but comfortable enough, and most importantly clean.

We had dinner out, and on returning we asked the owner for some drinks at the bar. Once again he looked at us as if we were stupid and just dismissed us with a 'bar is closed'.

The one saving grace about this place is that the lady manager was outstanding. She tried her best to make our stay comfortable and she had an excellent demeanour and worked like a slave. She was seemingly available 24/7 and did everything. Literally everything. The owner just seemed to want to make guests miserable.

She does not deserve to be in a place like this - she would be better employed as a senior customer services manager in some 5 star establishment elsewhere.

If she wasn't there, then I would say avoid. She is the one saving grace.

Visited here whilst biking in the area. We have been before and we just love coming back. The hotel is set in a stunning location. The hotel is always clean and tidy. staff always welcoming. Our room was spotless with everything we needed. Comfy beds and great shower. The food both on the evening and breakfast were great. Everything very tasty and great value. There is a nice little lounge residents can go to afterwards if wanting to continue to chat with friends which is a nice little touch. Definitely recommend staying here and will be back in the future.

Stay here on a memories trip for my Dad. Dave, Sue and all the staff made us feel very welcome, and were able to help Dad with questions about that people used to live around there.
The food was delicious and sitting outside on patio was relaxing after a day of driving was so nice.
We had such a great stay, they made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.

We stopped for lunch, hoping to have a sandwich, service was strange, no sandwiches, but they did when asked for the third time, offer rolls, as we did not want the main menu. However they were awful, and the chips unedible, rock hard and tasted of cheap cooking oil.
Other people left, we wish we had

We booked in on a whim as we wanted to extend our trip in Galloway by a day, and so glad we did!

The room was lovely and comfy, beers in the bar (and the idyllic riverside beer garden) were grand and both dinner and breakfast were fresh and delucious.

What made it really special though was the welcome we received - Mark and Dave took the time for some really terrific conversation, and we really felt that providence had guided us to this hotel where we had such hospitality...

Hoping to return; a million recommends for this gem of a place.
