We recently spent 4 nights at The Royal & found it very peaceful & relaxing. We found it is in a good location for the Northern Lakeland area. We would describe our room as being a little quirky compared to the regular hotel standards we have come to expect these days, but really liked the décor, furniture & Art work....

We like the Ullswater area and usually stay in Glenridding village but on this occasion decided to try the Royal hotel at Dockray for a change. We had visited for lunch whilst out walking on a previous visit and it seemed nice. Our room was pleasant, a decent size with a large ensuite bathroom which had a bath and overhead...

The location is great in the lakes,in the north. If you wanting somewhere to stay for night after a long walk then it will be fine. The room we had was ok but small, the bathroom small, the shower had never been grouted and badly needed it. It boasts a 3star restaurant which is not set out like a restaurant, they cater more for barmeais....

Perfect stop for walkers and sightseers. Welcoming bar staff, good local ales and a roaring open fire. We did not try the food but it looked delicious. Tucked away just a short distance from the shores of Lake Ullswater, a great find!

Hubby and I are just back from a mini break for our wedding anniversary. We both had a fabulous time and loved the hotel and its location. The hotel has a lovely bar area, well stocked with beers, local ales and much, much more. The restaurant where breakfast is served is really lovely, bright and airy and very quaint. Breakfast...

Great beer, brilliant customer service and superb food. Simply cannot fault this place! Definitely not to be missed if you're doing a hike from Aira Force falls. The bar staff were very accommodating and let us 'dry off' next to a toasty fire whilst we drank our beers.

Stayed 2 night here.hotel is lovely, very clean, lovely food. The hotel in Dockray is situated in a very very quiet peaceful area. Gorgeous surroundingso. My only tiny negative comment would be having to wait to get served at bar, because only small number of staff doing a few jobs.
