Excellent service, wholesome food, cosy atmosphere in bars with log fires. Clean and warm for a winters visit. Great views, easy access to Glenridding, Ullswater and Keswick and Derwentwater. Good value for money in what can be an expensive area

I recently stayed at the Royal and there were two visitors who had three dogs between them. The dogs were allowed in the bar area and were obviously kept in the guest rooms.
