Small, personal, charming, friendly hotel with great character. From the initial welcome we were made to feel that nothing was too difficult. Food is outstanding with a good choice and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend for a a short break. Good location to explore the Lakes.

We're delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to review. The Lakes are lovely of course, but the Eden Valley has just been named Britain's Loveliest Valley! There are lots of opportunitiies to explore, returning to Ash's wonderful menus! Hope to see you again soon...

This was our third visit to Temple Sowerby House. As for our previous two visits, the hotel and its restaurant was excellent in all respects. The hotel is well situated for access to the Eastern Lake District, Haweswater in particular. The food is consistently outstanding and imaginative. The restaurant has two AA rosettes, we consider it worthy of three. Portions are...

We have stayed at TSH many times in over twelve years and enjoyed every minute; superb food always with many innovative touches from an excellent chef; "friendly" features bring a smile to our faces every time; Paul and Julie are excellent hosts and attentive to all our needs. Hope to be back soon.

Well ! What can I say ! This "friendly", quintessentially English hotel is as near to perfection as you can get. The owners and their staff pay attention to every detail. We had a faultless 4 night stay. There are subtle little touches that make this boutique hotel extra special: beautiful linen, toiletries and towels; fine china tableware; a roaring...

We stayed at the hotel for two nights along with fourteen other people to celebrate my friends 60th birthday. We were welcomed on arrival and showed to our room (no.9) which was very nice with a window overlooking the walled garden and a lovely bathroom with a spa bath. The hotel is spotless throughout and very comfortable but the main reason...

Well, this was a fun party and a good time was had by all I think! Ash really enjoys letting his imagination loose with Indian food - lots of great flavours and spices to use. It was a nice contrast on Sunday to serve a more traditional menu. Thank you so much for all your kind comments which we will...

The menu was very much to our liking and the cooking and presentation were of a high standard. Our room had a good view and we were given sheets and blankets at our request instead of a duvet. The service was excellent and the Valentines evening was most enjoyable.

This was my third attempt at finding a good hotel local to Penrith and third time lucky! The hotel is maintained to a high standard. Both the service and attention to detail were very good without appearing 'artificial'. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast an absolute winner. Look forward to returning.

Temple Sowerby House Hotel is a beautiful, stately and historic building in the heart of Temple Sowerby village. Fantastic oldie worldly feel to the whole house, rooms were immaculate, as was the rest of the house. The roaring fire and beautiful ambiance of the residents lounge on the ground floor takes your breath away, so nostalgic, lovely furnishings and decor....
