Hola Juan E, Thank you so much for sharing your experiences while visiting us at Trogon Lodge. We truly appreciate that you've taken the time to share some pictures as well which are always a great help for those travelers who are considering a visit to the area. It is wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the overall experience, from the services of our tour guides on their birdwatching tours, but also the opportunity of being up and close with this evergreen nature that surrounds us. Thanks for taking the time to write, and keep on discovering Costa Rica, it has unique places to show you. Next time you plan on traveling, you might want to consider our sister property in the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, the Mawamba Lodge in the unique Tortuguero Canals. We were there for birdwatching so did not partake of other offered activities such as zip lining and looking for quetzals. Rooms are very nice, but only WiFi is in the restaurant and reception area. Meals were excellent. Good base to explore the higher elevations.

Hello garybirder, Thank you for your visit to Trogon Lodge for birdwatching purposes. I hope you got to see the beautiful Quetzal and also some other of the 190 bird species identified in the area so far. WIFI service in the area is weak, specially because of the rugged terrain and the high elevation of the mountains. In spite of that, we try to offer good WIFI service in the public areas of the Lodge, but are unable, with the bandwidth in the area to offer wifi in the rooms. We appreciate your understanding as this completely beyond our control. It was a great pleasure for us to have you at the lodge. Muchas gracias!

You really cant get much more "away from it all"! Bit of a hairy drive down into the valley and back, but well worth it! The Trogon Lodge is situated in lush grounds, with a river running through it! The rooms are in cabins scattered around, with a central area housing the

Hello Corrib, It is truly wonderful to understand that at just two hours away from the capital city of San Jose, you can arrive into this still pristine, quiet and unique land surrounded by beautiful mountains, great wildlife, gardens and nature. yes, the last 7km of the road are to be driven carefully and during daytime. The road is narrow and step, and although the views are amazing one should concentrate on the street and driving down and up carefully using the strong shift of the vehicle. Honestly delighted to know that you got to see the Quetzals, and enjoy the services of the Lodge as well. Thank you so much for your visit and for appreciating the rustic elegance that conforms Trogon Lodge. Muchas gracias

We loved the Trogon Lodge! We loved the setting, the landscaping, the cabins, the fishing, the staff, the hummingbirds, the elusive and magnificent quetzales, the trails, the nice little extra touches, and the food! We came for fly fishing for the Tico trout, and we ended up

The Lodge can arrange private transfers for you in case you don't want To drive. Nearest beaches include Dominical and Manuel Antonio, but these don't offer all inclusive r sorts which are mainly in the Guanacaste area and a bit too far to drive there from Trogon. Manuel Antonio offers escellent full lodging options but none all inclusive.

The closest airport is San Jose, and depending on traffic drive is usually 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It is important to consider road conditions and daylight. It gets dark in CR through the year around 5:30 ton6:00 pm and we do recommend driving on daytime. If your flight arrives in the country later than 2:00 pm, we would recommend an overnight in the city before departing.
