Rooms are very small separate cabins. They are comfortable but the only heat source is a small portable heater. It is very cold here at night because of the high altitude and the heater is insufficient. The lodge has a nice restaurant. Dress warm there also. They offer a $60/ couple Quetzal tour. They work with local farmers who call...

We stayed in a superior cabin with jacuzzi. View out of windows is stunning. Main lodge with eating and common areas is very quaint and you can watch the hummingbirds in the hummingbird garden for a long time. The quetzal tour at 5:30am is a must! The guide was great and they go to some farms where the farmers are...

It is very beautiful here but I have one reservation. If I stayed again I would prefer a superior room. I found the standard room claustrophobic (probably says more about me than the room) and when it rained for the best part of a day the rain on the roof overnight did not add too the ambience. Staff are lovely,...

Paraiso Quetzal Lodge has an authentic feel to it that is hard to find in other hotels. It could be the rustic yet charming wood cabins, the incredibly friendly and accommodating staff that treated us like family, or maybe just the incredible scenic beauty of the area. We stayed two nights in one of the "superior" rooms and the views...

A lot was written so far in other reviews about the cold nights, the beautiful location and the spacious superiour bungalows with jacuzzi and small bathroonms and about the basic but good food. We agree with these statements! Our "excellent" must be seen in relation to the fact that this is a lodge high up in the mountains and not...

My wife & I enjoyed a three visit recently at the Paraiso Quetzal Lodge, our first visit to this location. The location is wonderful - we had a great view from standard room #8 - the food was amazing, the quetzal tours interesting & fun - we saw 5 quetzals on our first tour and went back the next day...

We felt like a coffee as we drove toward the Hotel Savegre and decided to stop at the Paraiso de Quetzal. What a great surprise! Next time we will stay here and not travel all the way down to the Hotel Savegre. Other Tico friends told us to stay here on our next visit. The hummingbirds that came to the...

What a special little place this was. Quaint, oozing charm and managed with typical costa rican hospitality. Food was good, the typical tico breakfast was delicious and a great way to start off the day. So quiet and peaceful, so many birds up close and the icing on the cake having the opportunity to photogaph and enjoy seeing both male...

I operate a bird photography tour company and we visit this lodge every year. It is always the highlight of the trip for our groups. Jorge and his staff go out of their way to make sure that all of your needs are taken care of. The food is excellent, the lodging is clean, rustic and comfortable and the views...

One of our favourites of the trip! We stayed two nights. The lodge is located at a high elevation of 2,700 meters and the windows have fanstatic views of the forest. It is about 2.5 hours from the airport. Cabinas are rustic but comfortable. Morning and evening can get very cold and portable heaters are provided. This is the place...
