Our first visit to Costa Rica!! 4 serious wildlife photo guy stays at Paraiso Quetzal for 3 days in April and stayed there were over too quickly! I only wish we could have had more time to explore them. Our main objective was photography and both inside the compound and outside there were lots of opportunities. It was a highlight...

Many beautiful hummers flying around the feeds in front of lodge restaurant, plenty of beautiful birds in the garden as well. Room is cosy and nice, at night it was bit chilly. Hope they can provide more food choices, everything else is great, hope to visit agaim

Serious birders stayed here 2 nights. Great views. Very friendly staff. The family has a very good relationship with local farmers that helps give them some financial support to keep dead trees standing and wild avocados to help with the resplendent quetzals. Numerous crowded hummingbird feeders. Some cabins a long walk from the main lodge. Beautiful sunsets. Fireplace. Excellent food....

Wonderful views from the lodge into the valley and across to the mountains.I would not recommend # 1 cabin. Small and cramped, next to the car park and lodge. No view into the valley. It was very, very cold.Gaps around the Windows and the planks in the wall plus there was a very strange overpowering smell like creosote.A very small heater in...

we DID NOT stay at this lodge, but rather visited for birding. For that purpose it was great. Lots of hummers are attracted to the feeders, and other birds show up as well. This is a very popular spot for this reason, so there always seems to be a crowd on the deck.We also enjoyed lunch here; good, basic food.

The altitude is over 8000 ' and even in dry season the nights are really cold. The beds are comfortable and the views are amazing. Our cabin was a long walk from reception and quite a steep climb, I was much fitter by the time I left. The staff work really hard often offering two lunch sittings to medium sized...

The reviews I have read do not seem to be for the lodge we stayed at; our cabin #4 was terrible. There is rustic and then there is rustic. The ceiling boards were warped and hanging down so we could see the wiring in the ceiling, the floor boards moved when you walked on them, the shower drained onto the...

Firstly, yes it does get cold at night when you get to bed, but nice daytime temperatures. Staff were very friendly, and the room had amazing views. I could have spent all my time filming the hummingbirds with so many different colors in different lighting. Saw the quetzals on both days with amazing views on day 2. The food was...

We are not birders. We did not go to Paraiso Quetzal Lodge on a pilgrimage to find the elusive quetzal. We simply wanted to experience the cloud forest. Yet those who were at Paraiso Quetzal, on their birding journeys with their massive cameras did fascinate us. However with the opportunity to experience the birding activity we took an early morning...

We were here 2 nights to watch birds and man we did! The high altitude makes the trails extra steep and my lungs less full but what a beautiful birds: hummingbirds, resplendent quetzal, tapaculo, thrushes etc etc. The excellent staff took us to the local farmers for resplendent quetzal, a bio-chain to remain, Our recommandable local guide Chris helped us...
