The trip concerned a business voyage connected to a conference in the local university. Delegates were scattered throughout Heraklion so we were left to our own devices to pick a place. Despite a slightly touristy ambience, The Petousis hotel managed o deliver in all the key areas. Clean, well-managed and very efficient, the hotel did everything with efficiency and professional competence. The restaurant attached was certainly lively and provided decent enough Greek food. Location s off the beaten track but that was not a significant issue. The one big drawback was the appalling weather - driving rain and howling wind. But overall, a safe, economic and reliable alternative with good standards.
Such a wonderful holiday we had, we have been travelling to amoudarra for 14 years and thought we would treat our self as we always eat in the main restaurant and we weren’t disappointed clean friendly, manager is a lovely friendly guy and so pleased to say we are booked to return
Friendly staff. Well organised. Good food. Very covid aware. Clean. Very easy to get a bus into Heraklion. Family friendly. Area being cleaned up ready for the season. Only a few minutes walk to the sea and sandy beach.
In a great location, Amarouda is about 30 m minutes by bus, from Heraklion town centre which has superb shopping and restaurants, and 100 metres from a sandy beach. Rooms are well decorated and maintained in modern style. Ours was on the second floor with views across the Pool to the sea. Restaurant is a mix of modern and traditional decor and is popular with locals as well as tourists. There is a good choice of local dishes including the fire-grilled lamb which they are proud of and pizzas made to order - all at reasonable prices; dinner for two including a couple of beers, mains and their complimentary Raki (local fire-water!), individual doughnuts with ice cream, honey and sesame topping and a fruit platter was around €30 - 35; less for pizzas. Beautiful pool and poolside areas, with private pools for every two studio suites, although too cold to take advantage of in February! The staff and Management were friendly and efficient and made us so welcome; nothing was too much trouble. Special shout-out to Harris, on reception but everyone was great! This was our third visit to Crete and every trip has been amazing1 …
Friendly staff, nice and comfortable rooms. The restaurant serves the most delicious traditional Greek food. Location is perfect, next to the beach and short distance to Heraklion. Good parking options.
