Saddest day of 2020 so far was when I had to depart from Birdsong Villa. My girlfriend Courtney and I stayed there 2 nights in early January. We were instantly blown away by the beauty of this property. After traveling up a bumpy mountain road, we pulled into Birdsong and met our host, the owner Allan. He showed us around the property and we fell in love with our room. I would DEFINITELY suggest renting the top floor, as the view of Arenal and the jungle below is unparalleled beauty. We woke up each morning to the sounds of the jungle. Howler monkeys echoed throughout the floor, and seemingly hundreds, maybe thousands of species of birds singing. Then we'd make coffee and have breakfast made *in our room* by the sweet Louisa. We'd eat outside on our little patio the freshest fruits, pancakes and eggs. We decided to get massages out on the lookout pier that overlooks the jungle. That was a memorable experience. Also had Yami, the owners wife over to make us a private dinner one night. The entire experience was awesome and we are so happy we got to make new friends in Allan and Yami. We also adopted the cute little toad in the outdoor shower area and named him Marty. To be honest, we will never stay anywhere else again when visiting this area in Costa Rica. A resounding 5 stars.…
Spectacular world-class views, excellent service, gracious hosts, centrally located for many activities, bedroom is like in a movie setting, very tastefully decorated, huge hot tub in the bedroom, beautiful gardens, can sit for hours watching the volcano steam, and listen to the birds sing. lots of fun
My 2-night stay at the Birdsong Villa was a brilliant last minute decision, which I spontaneously took after deciding to bus my way up to La Fortuna to spend a day hiking and discovering the beauty of the Arenal National Park with newly met friends. Though it was so last minute, Alan (the owner) was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. He even arranged a taxi transportation to pick me up from the Arenal National Park once the day ended. I arrived at the villa when it was already dark, yet he stood there waiting and, after I mentioned being a bit hungry, even brought me to the center of the rural town where I was able to buy get a little something to eat before bedtime. The suite I booked was the garden view suite. What can I say about it? Frankly, I was expecting it to only be a room but it was a whole house - kitchen, living room and bathroom included, all for me! I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything was very clean and functional, and the decor was aesthetically pleasant. 10/10 would live in such a house. I was met, in the morning, by the most stunning 180 degrees view of the Arenal Volcano, lagoon and rainforest. I stood in awe and admired the beauty of the scenery from the comfort of the suite's bed. It was surreal! Breakfast was also delicious. Provided in the suite was also a coffee machine and all culinary tools needed to eat or even cook your own meal. Alan was also very helpful in arranging for me to go hike with Fernando, a very kind local, the next day. It was easy for me to book a second night there! Thank you for everything, Alan! I will definitely return to the Birdsong Villa, should life ever bring me back to Costa Rica (which I hope it will) :)…
Look no further, Birdsong Villa offers an Uncanny aesthetic experience to all your senses! Best place around, definetely will come back Again, rejoice around the green canyons and a concert of beautiful birds, Mr Owen is an amazing host as well.
Birdsong Villa is a super unique, two room B&B with a remote; quiet location and the the best view ofArenal Volcano. The road to Birdsong is notoriously rough - but not as bad as some say. Not good for sedans but 4 wheel drive is not a must. Allan the owner and host is very gregarious and accommodating. The Villa is high up on the mountain with a fantastic view and the area is good for hiking and birdwatching. The upper unit affords views that cannot be compared with the lower unit, but the price difference is substantial. A good restaurant is right down the road -The Phoenix - where Juan and Luisa will treat you well. It's also close to the butterfly sanctuary which I highly recommend you visit.
Tucked away on a mountainside that faces the Arenal Volcano, this small 2 unit B&B was near paradise. Choose the upper unit with 5x8 foot windows around three sides and you will see a panorama of mountain jungles, the Arenal Volcano, and the Arenal Lake. And an added treat, on a clear night, the sky is littered with a million stars! The owner, Alan, is great with lots of information on the area. Don’t be intimidated by the stone steps to the doorway, the view is worth the climb! Breakfast is served on the patio each morning.
The drive to the villa is a little tough - you should not attempt with a sedan. But its worth it. We arrived at night and were unable to see any landscape, but in the morning we were greeted with the most amazing view of the volcano, lake and surrounding jungle. There's lots of activities nearby. And Allan (he's a friendly American) is a great host with lots of tips on activities and getting along in Costa Rica. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Fortuna.
Birdsong Villa is undoubtedly the best place to stay if you want a great view of Arenal volcano and quality relaxing time. It worked really well for us as a family and I feel it will be a great choice for honeymooners and people who really want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life to rejuvenate. Our family (2 adults, a 6 year old and a 2 year old) stayed there for two days and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of our stay. The villa sits on top of a mountain overlooking Arenal volcano, we drove from Coco Beach to here and passed Lake Arenal on our way, the drive was long but full of amazing views. The villa is extremely comfortable with all the possible amenities one can wish to have in a rainforest/on a mountain. From the super comfortable bed to the outdoor shower (yes we met Mr. Frog there 😊)... the lovely breakfast area outdoor to super clean bathroom to the GORGEOUS windows.... we literally could see the volcano from inside our suite. However what made our stay even more special was the awesome hospitality of Allan, the host. Allan was extremely helpful from the time we inquired to the time we left the place. He provided us great suggestions, accompanied us for dinner, entertained us with his wealth of knowledge and made sure our kids had as much fun as us. Allan has set the bar super high 😊…
Birdsong Villa is quaint with the best view ofArenal Volcano. Allen the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The Villa is high up on the mountain with a fantastic view. There is hiking and birdwatching. Be sure to eat at The Phoenix. Best Ceviche ever!!!
I have stayed at Birdsong several times and I have more fun every time I come. The view of Arenal is beautiful and it is so relaxing being in the rainforest. I love hearing the howler monkeys early in the morning and enjoying a cup of coffee on the patio. I've only been home for several weeks and I am already thinking about my next trip to Costa Rica.
