Caunes Minervois is a small enough village for travellers to park on the main road and ask any of the locals for directions to the hotel. It's signposted in any case. And it's opposite La Mairie. Frederic the owner won't be there between 2 & 5 pm so try to checkin outside these hours. He will show you to the...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in September. It is a delightful place not far from Carcassonne.... About 20 minutes. Frederick will look after you.... He is a treasure!! We had the best meal in France at his restaurant. Rick Stein apparently did part of his trip through France at his restaurant!! The accommodation was excellent... The building...

We spent only one night but it was great! The place is beautiful and romantic, Frédéric the owner was very kind and helpful. We had a great dinner at a good price and nice continental breakfast in the garden. Highly recommend!

A Luke warm welcome led to a disappointing evening where we did not feel comfortable. The wine was opened and we were not asked to taste it unlike other restaurants where you sample it before it is poured for you. The food was mediocre and we left early.

We based ourselves here for a week while exploring the region and it was a great choice, both because of the hotel and the town itself. The hotel is in a quiet back-street and our (family) room was huge. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was very good. The proprietor was also very helpful...

This family run hotel is charming, well run and fairly priced. The building itself is old, full of charm and the owners have created a lovely atmosphere. Our bedroom was a good size with tiled floor and window onto the internal courtyard. It was quite dark but that is the nature of the architecture. The bathroom looked recently renovated and...

This hotel is as hard to find as other reviewers say it is. Best strategy is to get as close as you can, park on the main street, and then walk to find it. Arrival while it's still light is a must, or you will be sleeping in your car because you will not find it. Once you do track...

This place is an absolute gem. Caunes-Minervois is a find in and of itself; it’s a stunningly well-preserved medieval village about 15-20 km NE of Carcassonne and a delightful alternative to the throngs of tourists that find their way there. Beyond that, Hotel d'Alibert is a wonderfully eclectic mix of the old and the new – housed in an 16th...

Wowee..... Was not expecting this type of place in the sleepy town of Caunes! A play on words is on the menu here, it's worth taking a French speaker with you to laugh with the owners descriptions! Not for the faint-hearted though, if you like plainer food, stick with alternative restaurants as you'll be hard pushed to find a plate...

Actually, you are experiencing two treasures when you stay at Hotel D'Alibert. The first is Frederic, who as others have noted is a wonderful host. He is a warm, witty and generous (e.g. he offered us a cell phone to use in case we got lost...) soul and has in-depth knowledge of local culture, foods, and wine. The other obvious...

“We had #8 in the turret, and it had several windows and was large and very quiet. Hand held shower over a bathtub, no enclosed shower. There is some electrical problem in the bathroom that makes the lights go out about 5 minutes after you turn on the switch. Fellow guests said this was their favorite room, but we didn't see any of the others. Ask about whether your room will have windows, because some do not.”

“Our room was # 8 and up 2 floors on a circular medieval circular staircase. There are no elevators, so if you've have walking difficulties, ask for a room on a lower level.”
