Several things. I have travelled the Caribbean for over 20 years so my point of view is comparative. The front desk was very unfriendly and unhelpful. No welcoming smiles. I stayed in their Superior Room, so paid a premium and had certain expectations as a result. Things that did not work in the room: No outgoing calls, if you want to call local, you have to go to the reception desk and wait. Seems minor, but no pen and paper in the room. I asked for some to be brought to my room and they never delivered. No alarm clock. They said they did not have clocks for the rooms. The TV did not work, had to have staff come and adjust the settings. The microwave blew up on me. The refrigerator looked like it had been thrown down the hillside, it was all banged up! The kitchen cupboards were not clean, food stuck on handles. The sofas were not clean, they were stained. The safe deposit box stopped working so ended up having to wait for a repair person to come to the room to get my things out in order to leave. The shower had a dead bug in it for 2 days! During check out I went over the bill asked about charges for the taxi, I was told both were included (to and from airport), but when I was at the airport and heading to the Gate, the taxi driver approached me and said I had not paid! The person from the hotel was on the phone saying I owed the driver $60.00 even though the front desk person at check out said I had paid. Befuddled and did not have time to argue I paid the driver. Once home there was a charge for the car rental with a 3% surcharge because the con-man car rental guy at the hotel could not get his charge card device to work. Staff said they tried to call me, that is a lie and at check out nothing was said to me about the car rental. I was told he used the hotel's device, so they charged me an extra 3%! SCAM! We argued back and forth to resolve. Besides the view, sadly I cannot say much good about this hotel.…
My wife and I spent 4 nights here in January 2022 and we can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, and private. Check-in was a breeze, and the entire staff are very friendly. Although we did not eat at the restaurant, we got drinks at the bar almost every night. The bartender was warm and friendly, and most of all, made excellent drinks. The beach (and restaurants) are just a short 5 mins walk, though our room was located on a hill, so keep that in mind if you plan on walking. We'll definitely be back next time we're in St. Martin!
This hotel is ideally located withing easy walking distance of Orient Bay beach, restaurants and the Petit Casino mini supermarket and a ten minute drive to the Super U supermarket and gourmet stores on the Hope estate. We have stayed here many times in one of the lower level one bedroom units. 610 had a great view and had been modernised since our last stay. Front desk staff are very pleasant and were patient with my attempts at French. They also helped greatly with our COVID tests we needed to get home. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day. The restaurant (Café Plantation) had been redecorated and we ate there the first night. The food was excellent and service very cheerful but the menu is short and very heavy on ceviche, which is not my cup of tea. We mostly did our own breakfasts, buying baguettes from Good Morning or "L'Express in Hope Estate" and we love cooking some of our own meals. the problem is that the kitchenettes are woefully inadequately equipped for those who like to cook. There were not even any wine glasses when we arrived. They were of course provided on request but we had to buy some equipment, as on the previous visit. That is the only flaw at this delightful extablishment.…
Wow…. I have so many nice things to say about this place. We were greeted with warm smiles at every turn. The room was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was wonderful, hot and served with a smile. The beach was a short walk from our room with fragrant flowers blooming everywhere. Beach chairs were included at Bikini Beach where we were treated with delicious food and tropical beverages. Yep, I’m comin’ back. Don’t miss this gem.
My wife and I have stayed here several times for a continuous week. Outstanding place to go and stay. Rooms are very cozy. Close to Orient Beach and wonderful complementary breakfast as well as great dinner menu. If you go to Orient Bay, you need to make reservations to stay here. Well worth it!!!
water pressure was low, then non existent (during height of coronavirus pandemic).. Staff made no effort to place guests in suitable accommodations at other hotels. We reserved mobility accessible room, given 1 at top of 45 degree incline driveway. Advertises airport shuttle but they don't have one. We hired airport shuttle. After taking us to our room, the airport shuttle driver stopped at the office and told the staff we would need assistance and they should not have placed us in a completely unsuitable room. Staff did not tell us we could request golf cart to pick us up and take us around the resort. It was of limited help since it couldn't make it to the top of the hill where our room was, even after its battery was charged. Staff was generally unhelpful on all counts. Beautiful pictures do not tell the story.…
We spent three nights here. We were late being picked up from the airport due to a misunderstanding, so we were upgraded to a lovely room - very spacious, fully equipped kitchen, airy bedroom with mosquito net, clean spacious bathroom, patio with a theoretical sea view (lush vegetation in the way!) and a nice indoor sitting area with TV. We ate in the restaurant twice - lovely food and friendly service. Breakfast was all we needed - eggs, pastries, fresh bread, yoghurt, fruit, toast, juice, tea, coffee (fancy machine). Pool was quiet, clean and the hotel was not far from the beach and restaurants. We'd go there again.
People could not be more pleasant and accommodating. Rooms are basic but clean and we did not come here to stay in the room. Walk to 5 beaches and your chair and umbrella are included along with nice large beach towels. . Have lunch at one of the 5 beaches and charge it to your room! The village is close by and includes 4 or 5 very nice restaurants. I cannot explain why people would say anything negative about this place. They will squeeze fresh on for you or make you an omelet if you want something different for an up charge. I would highly recommend this place for its quiet location, affordability, cleanliness and accommodating staff. We definitely will be back!!!!
While not on the beach, it was just 5-minute walk until I hit Orient Beach. I passed through a small shopping center on the way, and there are several restaurants on the beach. A good beach towel was provided, as was a card that allow you to sign restaurant meals at three places to your room. Very practical! My room was very spacious, clean and bright. Comfortable bed and a quiet surrounding made for good sleep quality. I had a veranda with partial sea view. The kitchenette had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Reading light at the desk was decent. The safe worked, but could have been place higher for convenience. Breakfast buffet was included, which was very practical. It was not lavish, but enough for a good start. I had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, and was impressed by their Mahi-Mahi. Staff were consistently helpful and service-minded. A place to return to!…
The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The spacious accommodation were well appreciated and utilized. We cooked in the fully stocked kitchen . I scuba dived , we sunbathed, and evening took a day trip to Anguila for the festival/party on the beach. Having a car is highly recommended and facilitated getting around the island. The staff , the pool and the breakfast were all pleasant and enjoyable . If and when I return to St Martin I’ll definitely stay here again.
