I'm ashamed to say that when my partner told me we were going to Yorkshire for our getaway...I wasn't overly ecstatic. I wanted sun!and sandy beaches!and!quaint little tavernas to sit at at night with a bottle of wine!and!and! Oh I don't know...but Yorkshire??!!! So..three glorious days later...I'm at a loss for words...but can find two... silly me. I have loved...

Easy to walk to beach(takes about 5 minutes) and beautiful views from house .Three bedrooms fine for 3 generation family holiday .Weather great the whole week so spent lot of time on beach. Thought Sainsbury's on outskirts of Whitby was easily accessible form Sandsend and for us was the best place to shop with more or less everything we wanted...

Had a weeks family stay in the holiday cottage and have to say what a magnificent stay we had. The cottage is beautiful with everything you could possibly need for a family holiday including views to die for from nearly every window in the house. We viewed some stunning sun rises over Whitby which is a short car / bus...

Our 1st visit to this area of our wonderful country and we were enchanted. The Porthole is a unique experience based upon its locality, its charm and high end all round quality.Even though it is classed as a B&B its far beyond that title. The hosts are always on hand if required but not intrusive, ( lovely people.and proud of...

Stayed as a family of five plus two dogs in Craigmore Cottage. Great location, clean well appointed house with attentive owners living next door. The view from the terrace was great and the walk to the beach very easy. Nice place for a relaxing stay or as a base for cliff top or beach walks. Enjoyed our week there very...

This was our first visit to The Porthole and also Sandsend in general. We were captivated by the photos we saw before booking and the reality was even better. The view from the decking and also the rooms are amazing and sunrise spectacular. Worth getting up for! The accommodation is beautiful with an air of homeliness and peace; just what...

Another fantastic stay at the lovely Porthole. The quality accommodation has views overlooking the sea, decking where you can enjoy the delicious breakfast supplied in the morning or relax in the evening. Totally private. Helpful and informative hosts, who really want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Nothing better than to spend time in a quiet, peaceful location,...

This is the second visit we have made to the Porthole and it was just as good as we remembered. The situation, overlooking the bay, is glorious and the decking is a perfect place to have breakfast or an evening glass of wine. The accommodation is spacious for two, impeccable and stylish. It is just a few yards from the...

Another terrific stay at The Porthole. The usual nice touches - bottle of white wine chilling in the fridge & fresh fruit, plus all the usual delicious breakfast goodies (wholemeal bread, freshly-laid eggs, homemade jams & marmalade, muesli). The view is as stunning as ever - we will never tire of it. All-in-all, another lovely comfortable break.
