Located in the old town and a minute's walk from Freistadt Castle, this hotel is is quite quaint, as parts of the building date back to 1807. The rooms are spread out through what feels like a warren of passageways, decorated with hunting trophies from yesteryear and the hotel has a restaurant/bar for those who don't feel like going out...

Mostly used by overnighters and people on a short stay. However we were lucky to be booked in for five days as part of a small tour group. Tremendous location just inside one of the old town gates. Fascinating hotel which used to be the castle stables.Hotel v clean throughout. Large spacious bedroom at the front, again very clean. Now...

Red cabbage best ever sadly the ample portions left no room for the wonderful desserts on offer! Would definitely like to return to Freistadt again lovely hidden area of...

Have just spent 6 nights here - great hospitality, typical Austrian food, rooms are very different, quirky layout, huge bathroom, lovely and clean and would definitely return. Staff are very helpful and although are not fluent in English, they understand a lot. Well worth a visit

This was one of my best Austrian hotel experiences: it is located in a historical building alongside the city wall that still surrounds this charming, well-preserved, but surprisingly untouristed town - and yet the rooms are spacious, recently renovated, and have all the mod cons; they are also clean and quiet. The restaurant is also quite good. Parking is easy...
