This was our fourth visit here, and each time it gets better.
Great to see the lovely dog is still about although now getting frail, but loves his tummy rub!!
We had a room in the annex for the first time and found it great. Nice and quiet even though we overlooked the main road.

This is a lovely hotel in a fantastic setting. The gardens are lovely and the views of the surrounding mountains were amazing. My room was in the annexe and was really comfortable. The staff were attentive and helpful and the food was great.

My mother and I stayed 2 nights at Hotel del Oso and fell in love with the whole place. We loved the old building, the profusion of flowers, the huge pool and of course, the extremely large St. Bernard sleeping at the entrance. The 4 daughters who run the place are very very ha

Are there safes in the rooms?
Good morning. Yes there are safes in the rooms. We very much enjoyed the hotel.

We are wanting to walk the Rio Cares and I'm wondering what the distance it is from this hotel to the beginning of the trail. You talk about a funicular nearby...is this the same one you take on the Rio Cares? Also, we would be coming from San Sebastian. Is it enough to enjoy the spectacular scenery along the northern coast on our drive to this hotel? Thank you
From the Hotel del Oso, ideally with a good weather forecast, have an early breakfast and drive down to Potes then up and over the Santa Gloria Pass stopping to see 'the bear' and you can drive up to it. You then look across and with binoculars see the top station of the cable car and del Oso hidden below. Drive on into Cares and with comfortable boots you can walk the Cares Gorge. We only do this end half and picnic and back to Cares for the drive back. But you can continue driving west and come down to Cangas de Onis giving you a breathtaking second gorge but if too long a day - enjoy the Parador! Or use this as your next stop if touring.
