We stayed for 4 nights in June during an incredible heatwave. We were grateful to have such pleasant accommodation as we were confined indoors for the hottest part of the days, due to my risk of sunburn on my Irish skin. Our large terrace with...More

We had a rental car on our trip as we were traveling from San Sebastian along the Costa Vasca over a week and wrapping up down in LaGuardia. We visited San Juan de Gaztelugatxe on the day we went to stay at this agroturismo (1 night only). It was about a 20 min drive. You could walk it, imagine it would take about 1.5 hrs or so. San Juan de G. itself is not demanding but definitely worth the visit so maybe the walk would be added bonus? Maria at the agroturismo is a great asset for any questions. She is prompt and responsive to email so you may want to ask for her advice. You do not need a car to visit this area...the house even though it seems remote is actually near a trail that will take you into their town proper. A car of course gives you more liberties but not necessary. No matter which town you decide on, you won't be disappointed. It's a lovely coast line dotted with the most adorable villages.
