The answer is yes to both questions, there are plenty of taxis in either Haltwhistle or Hayden Bridge, Vindolanda is about 2 miles away and there is a Roman Wall bus leaves Haltwhistle Railway Station on a regular basis, the local bus from Newcastle to Carlisle 685, stops outside the Bowes Hotel.
