The Cliff Hotel is often celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and lovely decor, which contribute to a pleasant dining and lodging experience. While some guests commend the hotel for its value, others feel the service doesn't justify the expense. The cleanliness of the hotel earns high marks, with many travelers noting immaculate spaces and attentive housekeeping. The service is generally well-regarded, though instances of slow service have been reported. Amenities, particularly the terrace, are a highlight, though some suggest they could be enhanced. Its location is a hit for proximity to the beach and transportation. However, room experiences vary, with some enjoying sea views and others finding the rooms uncomfortably small and noisy.

I have just come back from Cliff Hotel, me and my partner loved it!

We was welcomed when we walked in with friendly staff and smiles.
All the staff in this hotel were very helpful and friendly.

The food in the restaurant for lunch/dinners including breakfast was excellent, Very tasty and a variety of options. Nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was clean and tidy on arrival, it had a huge bed which was very comfy and room was cleaned daily with fresh towels or anything extra you needed.

One negative thing we would have to say is about the car park. As it is small and first come first serve, there was sometimes no parking at all in the car park. The roads around the hotel are all ok to park on but as there is houses it’s very difficult to find parking there either. Occasionally we would have to wait in the car at the hotel car park and wait to see if anyone was leaving.

Our overall stay at this hotel was great, we loved every minute of it and it was even better it’s right on Gorleston beach!
A very comfortable, delightful and relaxing stay.

This is our third visit to The Cliff Hotel, and our second Christmas. Once again we were impressed with the spacious room and the incredibly comfortable king-sized bed. At Christmas Eve tea we were invited to make our menu choices for the festive stay from a well-judged selection. All the meals were beautifully presented and delicious. This year's Christmas dinner was splendid. Top marks to the kitchen staff and also to the dining room staff, who looked after us so well.

We can highly recommend the Christmas package which included lovely extras from the small gift in the room, to complimentary glasses of mulled wine, and even an inclusive family panto at The Pavilion Theatre just a few minutes walk away.

We love Gorleston. The promenade is prefect for walking off the excess of Christmas. At the end of our break, we were sorry to leave the sea front walks and The Cliff Hotel. Hopefully we shall return next Christmas.

Just spent three nights at this hotel, check in was spot on we were shown around the hotel by the very friendly receptionist and then shown up to our room. We had a deluxe room with balcony with a view of the sea the bed was comfy and tea coffee, water, toiletries are replenished every day, large soft towels were a bonus , every member of staff was friendly and polite, the food was great we preferred eating on the terrace but I would advise to book as gets very busy. Breakfast is cooked to order nothing was too much trouble, 5 min walk to beach which is lovely and sandy.
We would highly recommend a stay here

What a shame this Hotel has the making to be so good, but so many problems. This hotel needs a thorough clean from top to bottom, Windows dirty in and out , stains and damp on walls , hair and loose tablets in drawers . The stair carpet looked disgusting.
We had a balcony didn’t look like it had ever been cleaned and had some sort of chicken or bird bones on, not the nicest thing to look at while having your coffee . The drain pipe was leaking that’s probably the cause of your damp .
We were at the back with with a sea and port view , it’s very very noisy, and music banging away till late.
We felt very sorry for the staff who were very friendly but running around like headless chicken’s apologising for food they had run out of . I couldn’t have a cocktail as they had no tequila, or cheesecake, no fish, no toffee pudding no ice and so it went on. Come on management the shops are two minutes away .
No point booking a table on the deck as they are open to the public and they have all the best tables , we got stuffed near a bin or looking at the mop and bucket , and the tall waiter was very rude .
The staff were doing their best , the breakfast was very good, and the food we had was very nice .
Some hooks in the bathroom would be useful and a table on the balcony.

We enjoyed our stay in The Cliff. 4 nights in the middle of August. We had room 124. Very large room with a very large comfortable bed. The room was well lit with a tasteful decor. The staff were always friendly. We had breakfast every morning. Excellent quality and quick service. There also seemed to be upset in the staff. Some just didn't know what they were doing. One member seemed really stressed and yiu could tell. Rushing around getting things wrong. One member of staff said to us 'it's going to be a long day!'

The only thing I would think needs improving is that for a hotel room of this class is having glasses in the room and bottled water and an iron. Also 2 comfortable chairs would be good as there were no cushions so sitting in bed watching TV was difficult.

We booked afternoon tea on our last day. At £15 a person it really wasn't worth it. It was nothing special. Really all you got was a sandwich, a scone and a piece of cake. The cake was not amazing. Would never get this again. It needed more variety like little quiches etc. We were very disappointed in the quality and choice.

One thing we didn't like was that rightly we had to wear masks in the hotel but none of the staff did. Seems rude to me and didn't make us feel safe. Also track and trace wasn't monitored so many just walked through without filling in the piece of paper. With lots of people coming in and out of the hotel for meals aswell as the hotel residents this could be a massive problem if someone is carrying covid.

Car parking also am issue. It should be for hotel residents only.

But at the price we will come back. Its a beautiful hotel in a lovely location.

We had a brilliant welcome from Egle on reception but everything went down hill soon after! At lunchtime We ordered drinks in the bar, after waiting a while I queried where they were and the manager Aris advised they were on their way...they arrived 45 minutes after we ordered them. Later on we were on the terrace and again we asked 3 times for someone to take our drink order and each time they went off to do something else or served other patrons. At dinner in the restaurant 2 of our party ordered Chateaubriand it arrived on one plate already carved, no plates to eat from and no sauce. We requested plates but when they arrived they were cold. Also tomatoes and mushrooms were cold on all four meals. We complained and Aris said he was too stretched and what did we want him to do! The time between courses was slow the service poor our meal booked for 7pm took until 9:40pm. Generally the staff were doing their best but bad training and lack of leadership from management let them and the hotel down. The room was okay but unclean in places despite a deep clean during lock down This was our first and will be our only stay.

We stayed at the Cliff Hotel 28th September -2nd October(room 104) On arrival reception staff very polite and gave good information.Got to our room and we were slightly disappointed at the size of it,having booked a deluxe double,it was on the small side and had a shower over the bath when we expected a walk in shower. Nevertheless it was nice and clean so we settled in.The food here is excellent.Breakfast:-so much choice. The full English is huge and hot when it is served.Fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, pancakes ,eggs benedict to name a few,all served by staff that go the extra mile to make sure everything is okay. Topping up your tea and coffee. Bar meals /restaurant :-lovely food,we made the most of the 3 courses for £10,excellent value (Monday to Wednesday)It can get very busy when this offer is on so book early. The staff at this hotel are excellent. A special mention to Olivia S, a lovely young lady ,stopped for a chat everytime she served us.All very polite, helpful and all adearing to government guidlines with masks and distance, hand sanitising stations avaliable. The area where the hotel is situated was a bit of a let down. Not a lot to do.Just a chip shop, icecream shop and amusement arcade. The walk along the front to the other end of the beach was nice,we've never seen so many benches with plaques dedicated to people.I can imagine everything could look totally different in the summer and there might be more going on.The beach itself is lovely. If not for the slight disappointment with our room and the location of the hotel I would have given higher marks because we did enjoy our time there.

We’ve just checked out after staying at the cliff for 4 nights!
Upon arrival my husband checked they had a cot available as we had our 1 year old with us. The lady on reception told us they had cots but ‘didn’t provide bedding’ (not what you’d expect from a hotel). She also told us we needed to be out the room whilst they put the cot up due to social distancing etc. My husband told her we would be at dinner from 18:00pm so could they go in then! 19:30 we get back to our room to find no cot. So husband went back to reception to find out what was going on to be treated like it was his problem to sort out! After saying we wouldn’t be out the room again till 20:00 she replied ‘well the cleaners will be going home by then’. Like it was our problem to sort out! Anyway a few minutes later 2 ladies arrived at the door to sort the cot and it was made up in minutes!
The room itself was fairly small, as a family of 3 with the bed and travel cot in there it was very cramped and hot! We did have a fan but didn’t really help much! And the window only opened from the top which is not helpful when the blind is closed at night!
Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant needs serious looking at. I personally enjoyed my meals but my husbands dinners on a couple of nights weren’t great! Service is all over the place! Nobody really knows who should be doing what, so you end up
sitting there waiting for quite a while! Most of the younger female members of staff seem like they’re relatively new and not very confident in what they’re doing!
On the occasions we sat in the bar we witnessed lots of people complaining about how long they had been waiting for their food. Made a very awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere!
However the food in the bar was lovely! By far our favourite meal of our stay! Would definitely recommend booking in there! Though a little earlier in the evening! We ate at 4ish and the service was brilliant! Can’t fault it.

Overall we had a relatively pleasant stay, the hotel itself is in an ideal location, just a stones throw away from the beach!
Just a shame the breakfast/dinner service wasn’t quite up to scratch!

We booked this fairly recently, and right from the get go they were helpful, ensuring I had a room with a balcony and sea view as per my request.

The room (106) was lovely, immaculately clean, seriously biggest bed I have ever slept in and a lovely view of the sea and the gardens and terraced bar below. The room has a balcony door which is lovely to leave open, as there is no air conditioning, however, it may also be noisy if the terrace fills up in good weather, so be aware.

The bathroom was clean and had some lovely toiletries and fluffy towels, the super sized bed was very comfortable, excellent blackout curtains ensured we slept well. One tiny detail, a grab rail over the bath would be helpful for the less able among us.

Nothing was too much trouble, obligingly helping with all our various requests with a cheerful smile, from extra pillows, glasses, retrieving our coffee pot which had accidentally made its way to the kitchen, excellent Chinese takeaway recommendations from the lovely girl on reception, what a lovely smile. All the staff were nothing but courteous and friendly, from breakfast to dinner and later, with the best three course set meal we have ever had.

All in all, a perfect stay, from the resident cat (we’ve christened Cliff) to the delicious and massive breakfast (great sausages) we had a lovely time, we will certainly be back. Well done to all the staff for keeping cheerful and making customers happy, with challenges such as masks, well done. Thank you also for respecting and supporting those who cannot wear them.

We spent our 1st afternoon enjoying view and had thought might return again before end of week. Service was initially good by Charley who was like a human octopus but tall lad who was runner had no clue. We ordered 2 lots of cocktails within happy hour 5-6pm window before dinner both of which were fully charged on bill. We had made choices only to be told that 3 starters and 3 mains were then unavailable sod's law 1 of each we had selected. The team serving from 6 had "all the gear but no idea" with earpieces dropping out as serving food to table which amused us greatly. The food we had was good quality but unfortunately the service needs review as lacks leadership and dedicated servers who'd be watching tables. After bringing the bill an adjustment for 1 order of cocktails was made but felt the cheek of server to say 2nd order was after 6pm when in fact Charly took order on her behalf and corrected it before finishing her shift at 6 just made our decision for us that we won't return again this week.
