I used to live in Isesaki, Gunma. I would escape to Tokyo a lot! I always stayed in a Sakura Hostels. They are clean, safe, and friendly. They take walk-ins, and of full they will direct yu to another one.

We visited in a group of 6, so the dorms were a perfect and more importantly inexpensive option for us. The accommodation was cheap and functional, perfect for the short duration we were staying, as we only needed somewhere to sleep and shower. Great location as it's right near the Senso-ji temple, and near main transport links. Tip: if you...

I suppose the biggest pull of Sakura Hostel is the fact that it's right in the touristy area of Senso-ji Temple. However, the funky smell of the lobby/common area, the weird power outlets (attached upside down from the bed lamps), and the pathetic "included breakfast" of hot water, toast, and jam just do not cut it. There are so many...

Great hostel in a lovely neighborhood, a bit more relaxed part of Tokyo. Clean rooms and toilets, super friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable. Excellent place to meet other travelers.

I have to admit, this isn't one of my favorite hostels I've been to, but it's still a decent stay. It can be a bit difficult to navigate to, I have been here once before when a friend was staying here and I came to visit. This time, there was going to be fireworks that night, so the area (specifically,...

The hostel is located in Asakusa, less than 10min walk from the subway and the Asakusa neighbourhood is only 3 stops away from Ueno (JR Line and major station) so very practical. Asakusa is also very quiet all day long. The hostel is just behind the Sensō Ji Temple so you get to pass it many times at all time...

Seven nights no change of bedding, pathetic paid for breakfast of a bit of toast and jam that's cheaper to get from a 24 hour convenience store. Plug socket made available to you on your bed is upside down so any travel plug adaptors assuming if the fit into the limited space will cause your plug to constantly fall out...

The place is located near the famous kaminarimon gate at asakusa. Easy access to reach here although it's kind of confusing when I reach asakusa at first. But if you follow the maps that are given, you'll be reaching there in no time. The price is also suitable for the service they offer. Worth to visit again.

The place is about 10 minutes walk from Asakusa Station, but since it is located behind the famous Kaminarimon and Sensoji Temple, you will find yourself attracted to your surrounding. Just follow the direction given in Sakura Hostel Asakusa website then you're good. There are also many places to eat and to shop. Besides Kaminarimon and Sensoji Temple, you can...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
