This was a semi-double room with the typical Japanese business hotel setup. Room was somewhat smaller than other rooms we stayed in. It included TV, refrigerator, desk, clock, yukata, bath supplies and tea set. Room was very clean and all facilities worked well. No WiFi in the room, but staff supplied LAN cable. Their Internet system blocked outgoing ports which...

Nice place even though a little small. Very clean and nicely located (walking distance to tw Ueno metro station and train station). The tea and kimonos in te room were appreciated. The room may be cold when you get there but the heather works well and warms the room pretty quickly. Would come back and recommend. Ps: prices for the...

Three of us stayed there for 12 nights in a triple room. We stayed in a room where it had 2 doubles and a single, so it was pretty spacious for what it was. Very good value for the price you pay. We did Lawson runs pretty much every morning and night- it was awesome! It's close to the 0101...

After a couple of weeks in Japan we have become accustomed to small spaces so the Izu was a pleasant surprise. We had a twin room with the usual capsule bathroom, although very clean it is a little rundown - but you get what you pay for. The staff are helpful and friendly and have a little English - enough...

I stayed here on a trip trip to Tokyo with friends - as this was my first trip to Japan,I was not sure what to expect! I ave since been told the room was a good size. The Staff could not do enough for us. Conveniently located with Lawsons (like a 7/11 store) next door, it was just a short...

New Izu hotel was our first accommodation in Japan and we would certainly recommend it to stay in Tokyo. advantages: 1. location: ~5 minutes from Ueno station 2. convenience store right by the hotel - you could buy fresh onigiri and have breakfast in the room 3. little fridge in the room, tea-making facilities 4. comfortable beds (unless someone really...

This little business hotel is a great place to drop your things and explore Tokyo. Front desk staff was extremely courteous and helped answer any questions we had. Note that the luggage security when you leave it with the front desk is not what you're used to in the Western style hotels. The basically just put it in the hallway...

I can't possibly tell anyone accurately how to get to the hotel from the Ueno station because we went out of our way to not cross the pedestrian bridge (too many stairs and too much sun). My suggestion is to come out of the main exit and head towards the street with the Nissay building and go down that street...

Very good location, only 5min walk to Ueno station. Is in a quiet area so make sure you have a map and the exact walking directions as it is easy to get lost (like I did). Small rooms but comfortable. Also have a tv. Shared toilets were clean. Computer in the lobby. Lawsons next door. The staff were helpful and...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
