We stayed at this Toyoko Inn while visiting Tokyo. It is a business hotel so the rooms are really for just sleeping. We were able to catch the shuttle from the train station easily and navigate around by metro. Excellent value for an otherwise expensive city.

Excellent value for money. Very usefull shuttle service. Nice breakfast, even if it's a little crowded, you can take your plate with you in your room, and you have the choice between Japanese and Western style. Helpful staff, not always understanding english perfectly, but HEY, time to try your japanese !. And very good location (if you don't mind a...

I stayed at this hotel with my 16 year old son while visiting Tokyo for New Years. We stayed for 4 days and the hotel service was excellent. The staff at the front desk were very kind, warm, and helpful . Even the morning staff in the free breakfast room were very pleasant and greeted everyone as they walked in....

Stayed here recently as part of a school trip with 30 students and 4 teachers. The hotel was in a good location with close proximity to nearby attractions. The room was comfortable though my bathroom had a sewage smell to it that remained for the entire stay, unfortunately. The breakfast was quite good and the ladies who served it were...

This hotel was great for a couple of nights in Tokyo because of its proximity to the temple, the free shuttle to Ueno station, a nearby supermarket, plenty of places to eat nearby, and the reasonable price. It was clean, and there was a free breakfast provided. Wi-fi was provided but it really only worked when you were in, or...

This budget hotel is functional for a short stay. The rooms are small with tiny bathrooms. Very odd breakfasts ! There's really nothing special here though I liked the location. Good value for Tokyo I suppose.

It takes about 80 minutes on the Keisei main line from Narita to Ueno then either catch the hotel shuttle (when running) or change onto the Ginza line for Tawaramachi and walk 10-15 minutes or catch a taxi from Ueno and you reach this hotel. Close to the Sensoji temple, shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby. You can also walk to...

We read mixed reviews about this hotel but found it to be quiet and conveniently located. Our non-smoking room was small (as is typical in Japanese hotels) but comfortable and well appointed. Despite the staff speaking limited English they were very polite and helpful, which was appreciated as we arrived after hours. It was very clean and provided all we...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
