Cute hotel very close to JR Ueno; JR Keitei and subway. Overlooks lily pond and Shinto temple which is lit up at night. We stayed in Japanese style double room. Very nicely appointed. Small but most rooms are. Bathroom was really tiny. Only one person at a time! Staff friendly. Buffet breakfast in basement is good. Could benefit from a...

We stayed here for two nights during the blossom season. Excellent location overlooking Ueno park. Within walking distance from a couple of rail stations, also plenty of small supermarkets and eateries. We had a 5 floor room. As with most Japanese hotels, the room and the bed were 'cosy', but well equipped and scrupulously clean. The buffet breakfast, included in...

Beatifully located. A really nice onsen and a very kind staff. So many details that makes you feel that they care very much. A perfect way of beginning our Japan trip. A bit tiny bed for two. Great with early check in arter a long trip.

The Coco Grand Ueno is ideally located just a 5 minutes walk from Ueno station (connection for Narita airport via skyliner in 41 minutes), and even closer to the Ueno-Hirokoji station of the Ginza subway line. Nearly all rooms face Ueno park, an oasis in Tokyo's concrete jungle. On weekends it may get a bit louder, because Ueno is a...

We had a cozy room, small, but very well equipped, even with little snacks and free water. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. The hotel is located near Ueno park (perfect for a run) and the metro station. Its also near Tokio university and the Ito research center. Having breakfast was crowded sometimes so we had to wait for...

The location is great at the Ueno park with view on the temple. It is at 300 m of the Ueno station with access to metro, JR lines (Shinkansen) and Skyliner (Narita airport). The staff is very friendly. We got this time a very comfortable Japanese room. Breakfast was however worse than before (hotel was just open when we got...

Only a 5-10min walk from Ueno Station and Ueno Park. Lots of things to do in the immediate vicinity including the Tokyo National Museum. Staff all spoke English. Coin operated washing machines were a plus. Room very clean. Had a fridge. Only downside was the size of the room. It is very small which keeps me from rating it a...

The hotel was perfect for my needs. The location was great near Ueno station and the park. The room had a nice view. There was a beautiful onsen onsite which I used quite a bit as well as coin operated laundry which definitely came in handy. The complimentary breakfast was a bonus with a nice selection of Japanese and Western...

I stayed at this hotel again for my visit to Tokyo. I was given non-corner room which has a slightly broader corridor. However, this time I heard noses coming from upper floor that affected my sleep. Everything was still great, breakfast, friendliness of staff and amenity.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
