If you are looking for a shiny new hotel this is not it, this is an old fashioned but comfortable hotel. It is also conveniently located just next to UENO JR station, which will connect to all relevant parts of the city via JR. I enjoyed my stay and the staff was always very helpful (specially the lady in the...

The hotel is very close to Ueno JR station (and so the Tokyo metro station) just right behind the OIOI mall. The hotel consists of 6 floors. My friend and I rent a room for 3 people without bathroom inside (there's also restroom located on every floor as far as I can see). The room was a bit old but...

This is a great place to stay for location in Ueno. It is a easy 5 minute walk from several stations: the Keisai Skyliner from Narita, the golden color Ginza line that goes across the city, and the JR line that goes in a circle. It's also in the heart of Ameyoko so lots of places to eat (although finding...

Located about two blocks away from Ueno Station and a block away from Ameyoko...about 5 min. walk to Ueno Park. Great location for shopping (street shopping and department store), various restaurants steps away, pachinko, izakaya, department stores by the station and IOIO a block away .... Convenience stores also around each corner. Stayed in a Japanese-style tatami room for three....

The room walls of the hotel were quite thin as it was traditional Japanese style, anybody closing a door would send a tremour to all the other room on the same floor, making it extremely noisy. My room was just beside the female bathroom and I could hear every sound that came from inside it. During daytime, I could feel...

We stayed here for 1 nights we have to say the staff is very helpful and courteous and the location is one of the best in Ueno as it is nearby Ueno station and it is located hub of the center. However, we are so disappointed with the dirt in the room especially air condition. We would like the management...

I was hosted in capsules, is a worthwhile experience considering the local culture. The capsules are comfortable and spacious. The hotel offers amenities. Close to Ueno Station, restaurants and markets.

A hotel with great location and clean. The staffs are helpful and speaks little English. They will try to help as much as they can. The hotel provides luggage storage service but courier service is not available. I will stay there again.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times in the last 5 trips to Japan, and is our go-to hotel for affordable accomodation in the Ueno Tokyo area. Barely 5min from the Ueno main station and the Yamanote loop line, it is also barely 5min from the express train from Narita airport, so really it couldnt be better. Facilities are...

Stayed here for 3 nights March 2013 in one of the Japanese rooms (in fact writing this from the room). Good price, authentic, clean with helpful staff. Adequate facilities. Free WiFI & TV. This isn't the Hilton but much better than expected. Central location. 3 minute walk from Ueno station where the Limited Express terminates from Narita Airport so easy...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
