We had to give this a go while in Tokyo and myself and 2 friends spent our last night in Japan staying in this capsule hotel. The location is very close to Shibuya crossing but is located up the dodgy end of the main street and you'll find walking too and from the location at night will require you running... More

Booked this for my first 2 nights in Tokyo. Small locker area for shoes on ground floor then lift up to the reception area. Staff speak a little English but we both managed to get our points across! Capsule was as expected, very clean and nice sheets and bed. Sauna was exceptional, large and clean again - nice way to... More

What I liked: Amazing place to experience a capsule hostel and public hot spring bath. Great value for the money. You have access to public baths with sauna, tv in your capsule, clean sheets everyday, electricity to charge your electronics, vending machines for drinks and food, noddles at acceptable prices, clean cloths to sleep in. Staff was always polite and... More

Location : Good! Take the train to UENO station and head to Exit 5 or Central Gate Exit. The hotel is 2 blocks behind the OIOI mall. (2 mins walk) Wifi : Avaiable. Low connection in capsule. Cleanliness : Just OK considering the value paid. Personal Opinion : Suitable just for 1 day stay. Easily distracted by the noise of... More

I would like to start and point that i wanted to try a capsule hotel for the experience and not for any budget related option. First the location of this hotel in Ueno is just perfect! located within the Market in Ueno close to many shops, excellent to change from the usual city hotel. Concerning the cleanness of the hotel,... More

It's a tough call on this one, but I'm going to go against the trend and give it a 4/5 overall. The place was a little hard for me to find, but it's actually just a few minutes walk from the JR Ueno station. First off, I paid about $25 USD for the night. When I visited Japan in 2006,... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
