Objectively.... Kangaroo is ok. The place is nice, clean. The rates are ok. But for the cons... The place is a bit too far from the subway and JR stations. 10 minutes on print might not be too much but actually walking that distance eats up a lot of time and energy. There's a bus line that can take you...

It is easy to access from minami senju which is just 3 stations away from ueno. There are supermarket and shops nearby. The police station is not far. The hotel direction is easy to access. The hotel has very clean facilities. The staff are helpful. I have been living here for 5 nights and it is worth to stay here!

Good design and lovely hostel. Staffs were friendly. I stayed here for 2 nights. From Minami senju station ,15 mins walk distance. Around hostel has many convenient store and supermarket. Room is small and good for 1 person with tv and refrigerator. If you have big luggages,it may hard to carry stuffs to upper floor because it hasn't elevator.

Hotel is within 10~15 minutes walk from Minami-Senju Station. Accommodation wise; Room has a small TV, an air-con, refrigerator and has futon for its bed. Room would be considered small for 2 people, but definitely still doable with luggages squeezing at the foot of our beds. Bathrooms are located on the first level and every level has a shared toilet...

You can't beat this price for staying in Tokyo!! If you're fine with the small room, it really is an awesome place! I loved the futon room because it gave me more room to sort out things like luggage if I rolled the futon away to the corner. The futon was super comfy, there's AC so you can stay nice...

I think this is the best price you could possible hope for if you're looking for a single/private room in Tokyo. For about the price of 7 Starbucks lattes at home, you'll get a tiny private room. Is it really that small? Yes. The room has a single bed in it and I'd say the whole room would be about...

I'd booked the room for 4 people. There are 2 beds on the floor and 2 beds on the loft floor. The room is very small but it's ok for us asian people. Our luggages've been put on the floor beside the bed. Make our room full with all stuffs. Public bathroom and shower room are both good. Very clean...

Stayed here for 2 nights and I really love this place. Room: Small but comfortable and clean. Toilet is located on 1st floor. Beware of big luggage, there is no lift. Location: It is around 15mins walk from the station but I enjoy the walk every morning. Alot of Convi nearby. Service: Service was great, they help me to receive...

This was our first hostel stay as we normally choose budget hotels, but as accommodation is so expensive in tokyo we thought we would give this a try. It is quite far from the main tourist attractions ( apart from sky tree tower) but is close to metro and jr line. It was a great choice for us as we...

Very modern style hotel with minimalist decor. Rooms here can be tiny, but who really needs all that space in a hotel room anyway? Bathrooms very clean. Laundry facilities available. Staff are quite nice. The only downside to the hotel is its location, which can be tricky to find at first. Note that it is situated in a rather quiet...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
