I am very appreciative that Hotel Metropolitan let us check in early at 1:30 pm. My parents are over 80 years old, and allowing them to get some rest as early possible shows the hotel's consideration. Nevertheless, one receptionist--米田--was incredibly antagonistic during check-in. I don't know what was wrong with her mood that day, but, from the beginning, the way...

i was disappointed with this hotel as the room rates were expensive and the size of the room was tiny. we asked for a fold down bed for the third person in a twin room, as a result we couldnt even open a suitcase case as there was no space to do this. in general the hotel is quite shabby...

We picked this hotel on travel agent's recommendation (and tripadvisor reviews) for day + overnight stop in Tokyo prior to boarding cruise (from Yokohama). Opted to take airport bus limosine from Narita to the hotel (so we could be deposited at lobby with luggage). With hindsight, JR train would have been much faster/cheaper (& direct) option - but didn't want...

My family and I had an excellent stay at the Hotel Metropolitan, Ikebukuro. Upon arriving in Narita we were pleasantly advised that our JR passes on taking the Narita Express had a stop in Ikebukuro. From the station it's a two-five minute walk to the hotel (depending on how fast you walk). We went through Lumine, the department store and...

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Hotel metropolitan. The location across the road from the Ikebukero station was above excellent. We had JR passes and got to so many different parts of Tokyo using them. The room we had was quite large for Japan and certainly very clean. On our arrival a wonderful man greeted us before the...

This is my 4th times stayed in this Hotel. My last time was some 10 years ago. I booked a standard twin and was arranged at 21ft floor whihc gave me very nice good view. The room size is reasonable by Japanese standard. The reason i always stay in this hotel is the location. VERY convenience as it locates just...

We enjoyed our stay very much. Very clean and rooms were western style. Once we got our bearings we were able to discover that we were within a few blocks walk to the public transportation (trains @ Ikebukuru Station). Several restaurants are also within walking distance.

What a fantastic hotel in a fantastic suburb of Tokyo. 1 minute walk to the JR rail train station and a couple of minutes walk to a huge range of restaurants, the location really couldn't be better. The staff were friendly and helpful (as are all the Japanese people) and we really couldn't speak more highly of the hotel. Great...

This is not your cheapest option in Tokyo (but having said that not your most expensive either I guess). But the rooms are really small. It took us forever to check in, as we first got a smoking room, without asking for that. There is no wifi in your room, only in the lobby which is terribly slow. And then...

stayed here for 3 nights (25-28Aug), in a Standard Semi Double 17 Sq.Meters, and had a thoroughly comfortable stay. 17 sq metres sounds awfully small, but its actually pretty ok for 2 asian women. the best part about this hotel is the location; it is literally across the street from ikebukuro station. took the airport limousine from airport which drops...

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
