My second visit here after 4 years and it is still a good traditional experience. A bit far from the city but the shuttle service is really handy. We couldnt find the swimming pool which i assume us not located on site. Good sized and clean rooms. Excellent service and nice experience in general.

We stayed here for 8 nights. When we got there, the place was amazing. It really felt like a palace or a castle. The lobby and the hallways are always quiet and peaceful. We booked the Junior Suite. The room is just for 2 people but since there were 4 of us, we needed extra beds. When we arrived at...

The Rihga is an old fashioned luxury hotel that would suit those that seek a more traditional hotel but struggles to stand up to the modern styling of more contemporary hotels in the Shinjuku region. The rooms were clean but were showing slight signs or wear and tear. That being said if you opt for a junior suit you are...

I only stayed one night, to visit nearby Waseda University. I would have enjoyed a second day to explore the pond and paths in the back. The hotel has the old-time grandeur not seen in newer hotels. The elevators have art deco details right out of the Empire State Building. The room was not particularly large but was very comfortable....

Ok. I like the fact that the hotel has a shuttle bus that runs from the hotel to the Takada nobaba subway stop. I wish they had a shuttle from the airport though, this was my first time in Tokyo and trying to figure out the subway system on the fly got me extremely nervous. But I figured it out...

Although I already wrote a review for this hotel on 2015 August (please check my current review : 2015 August), this time I realized some things, so I'm going to add about that. I stayed here from April 11 to 20 (9 nights) in room 1215. As I reviewed before, it's a very familiar hotel in Tokyo since they were...

We very much enjoyed this hotel for our vacation week in Tokyo. It is near to the Waseda subway station (about 15 min walking) and to the Waseda university district. We even walked a couple of times from the Takadanobaba station area - ca 30 min. The staff are very helpful and sincerely kind. The decor is luxurious even if...

We visited Rihga Royal in October 2015, for 3 nights and It was fantastic. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. We were welcomed by a very Friendly door man, and checked in in quite comfortably. We had booked a Junior Suite, which was BEAUTIFUL. It was large and Spacious compared to Tokyo Standards with great in-room amenities. The hotel...

We stayed in a triple room which was a double room with a rollaway bed. The rooms are big and, like the hotel itself, in a style which I would classify as (old) English. It was classy though not really my cup of tea. Rooms are maybe a bit out of date (cosidering devices and level of comfort) by todays...

We stayed in early February 2016 in a junior suite. The room conditions seemed to be more value for money. The staff's English standard still needed to improve for better communication. I personally do not enjoy the bed because mattress is too hard for a foreigner. The breakfast is also too Japanese style. I do not like feather pillow and...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
