This hotel is ok but really nothing exceptional. The location is nice if you like korean food and want to have some several times during your stay, but otherwise there are better areas to stay when visiting Tokyo. It was very pricy considering the comfort. But this might be everywhere in Tokyo. We were three but ended up in a...

Great hotel for the location and traditional experience of tatami/ryogan. We travelled in Jan 2017 with a family of 5. I booked a 6 person room as I was worried about the small size of space/rooms I had heard about in Tokyo. Glad I did, as it easily fit in 5 large suitcases. Good for families who 'get on' well...

Great location very close to Shin-Okubo station on the JR Yamanote line which puts you within easy access of most sightseeing in the city. Very inexpensive with Expedia bundle and the room was comfortable for the most part. There was a convenient laundromat across the alley and free wifi. We didn't mind chilling on tatami mats. There are issues, however....

This hotel is located very close to the Shin-Okubo train station - very convenient for travellers who are wanting to see a lot of Tokyo. It is in a quiet area, but it's a quick train ride to the party scene. The only thing we would have to complain about is the thickness of the futons. They are very thin,...

The location was good, it was close to JR station. The traditional floor bedding was so uncomfortable (I have stayed at other traditional bedding hotels to which were very comfortable). Here you may as well have slept straight on the floor. I went and asked for more pillows and each pillow is an additional 500yen. Service was average. The rooms...

Although this hotel is not very gorgeous, the lobby and rooms are very clean and tidy. All people should take off their shoes and put them into a locker after entering the entrance of the hotel. The staff are nice and the services are good as well. The price of the room is not expensive too. The location of this...

Just came back from Tokyo 1 week ago. The travel agency recommended us this hotel which can accommodate us - family of four in a tatami room. This hotel is very convenient. Few minutes walking from Shin okubo station. Walking back every night to the hotel has a therapeutic effect as the area is quiet and away from the fast...

I thought the room was adequate and convenient for the location. I've stayed at other places in Japan with much better tatami mats so it wasn't the most comfortable but it wasn't terrible. The walls were thin and we unfortunately had a loud group nearby us but it sounded like management told them to quiet down before we had to...

The hotel was clean and in a quiet area. The staff were friendly in a non-demonstrative way. The room was of a reasonable size, with its own bathroom and kitchenette. The futon matresses were very thin and uncomfortable, otherwise I would have given the hotel 4 stars. Hanabi is close to cafes, restaurants, convenience stores, laundromat and station and only...

The location is really good, one stop from Shinjuku, so your close but not disturbed by the noise. But the mattresses are extremely thin, and a bit uncomfortable. But for the price you are paying in Tokyo it's what you expect. The hotel itself is t what I've stayed in before, e.g. having to remove your shoes before you enter...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
