It is a capsule hotel, so the room must be small but it's clean enough. There is a free public bath too for a unique Japan experience. The hotel room doesn't have any lock but the staff will gives you a locker on another level of the building. Overall everything is fine.

The sleeping space is small but has a TV, radio and a light. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke very good English, they even let me borrow an umbrella on a rainy day. The desk is also open 24 hours. The public bath is pleasant, but be aware that there is no privacy. The bath has showers to...

Going to the capsule hotel is definitley a very interesting experience and an affordable place to stay in a great location. The drawbacks are that the hotel is a bit outdated. It seems like this place would have been quite the feat of modernity back in its day but now feels a bit old and stale. Avoid the smoking floor...

If you want a real Hotel Capsule Japanese Experience it will be great and very genuine experience, but I didn't like the experience at all. I cannot believe how the Japanese's still smoking everywhere, specially at hotels and cafes, just unbelievable. So, it was disgusting to me the feeling of smoking everywhere even if where in a non-smoking floor. The...

My first night in Japan, uh, Robot Restaurant and a Capsule hotel!! Mind you, it was apparently the worst snow storm Tokyo had seen in 100 years (February 2014). I'm 6'4", and I fit in their capsules, but just barely. (I'm big in Japan). The capsules are probably about 6'9" deep, with TV, light, radio, plugs for charging electronics, etc....

My sidekick and I chose to stay in a capsule hotel both for the novelty of it and not having booked our hotel weeks ahead of time. Overall, I'd say it is an excellent alternative to hostels IF YOU ARE TRAVELING LIGHT. Below are the pros and cons. Pros 1. Location - Shibuya Crossing, shopping centres, transportation, restaurants are immediately...

Shibuya is my favorite Tokyo quarter. From here it's easy to reach all the other areas in Tokyo, in few minutes with the subway. Capsule are small (ok...ok, I know!), too loud and stinky. Bath and sauna in very good condition and clean! Personnel unfriendly, on all the three shift, especially the ones at the reception.

I was looking for a budget hotel close to the centre of Tokyo and was delighted to have found this capsule hotel in the heart of the action priced at just ¥3,200. This establishment is for men only. It was clean, quiet and safe. Never stayed at a hotel quite like this before, so there was a learning curve. The...

I decided to stay at this capsule hotel recently. It was my first time in Japan, and my first time at a capsule hotel. The place has about 10 floors, some which are smoking and others are non-smoking. The first floor is the lobby and check in. There are small lockable cubbies for your shoes, as the rest of the...

just a bit of a background on what we actually did before arriving here: that day we had done a lot of traveling, had been in Kyoto, and the plan was to head up to Tokyo, and stay there for the night, after going to Hiroshima, and Nara. so we caught the Shinkansen from Kyoto station quite late, we arrived...

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
